what do you use to clean your SKS?

I'm just wondering what tools you use to clean the throat of your rifle as well as the gas chamber/piston, plus the vent where the gas chamber pressurizes from. I obviously need to get a few more tools to ensure my SKS can be taken care of, so I'm looking for suggestions. getting something to clean the gas chamber properly is a PITA, or into the throat of the chamber (though that's for rifles in general). thanks!

Windex with amonia D. CLP or Hoppes. Lots of patches and brass brush. Just find the right size brass brush and the jag with a patch will go up into it as well. The cleaning tools you have will probably do just experiment a bit.

For the gas port on the barrel - thicker pipe cleaners from the dollar store

For the chamber - .45 caliber pistol brush(insert and spin)

gas tube - just patches, and bore cleaner

piston itself - copper scouring pad and bore cleaner(cleans all the fouling)

This is after boiling water has been poured over everything of course.

Ed's Red and elbow grease. The .45 cal brush works great on the chamber, but not needed every time.

It's not as bad as it looks at first glance! He specified tools so I don't think we need to get into the whole, windex vs. boiling water debate!

I just use the tools that come with the gun. The supplied brush works great for getting in everything, except the gas port which I wish I could find something for.

My wife bought one of those plug in steam guns for cleaning the shower (which, by the way, she never does)... so I've been using it to blast the crap outta the SKS and it works great... then I G96 it... smells like double bubble!

Bore snake for the gas chamber- g96 and brush- patch out

I use q'tips soaked in Ed's red for the gas port
+1 on the .45 cal pistol brush for the chamber
Same for the gas tube, .45 brush, and some solvent patches.
I'll use a piece of scotch brite soaked in Ed's red for the piston head.
I don't bother with the boiling water, and just use quite a bit of Ed's red

Here's a link to the recipe for Ed's red. I mixed up a gallon of it for about 20$ so now I don't have to feel guilty about using a lot of Hoppes #9

I just use the same stuff I use to clean by other guns, non of that boiling water stuff

I use and Break Free clp. Works like a charm and it gets the job done. -Elbow Grease not included
