what does a 6.5 creedmore do that a 6.5 x 55 doesn't?

Well Chuck, good to see your getting the point.
If you have a 7 bore, another stays home. There are 20 or 30 calibers between say 25 and 30 that can do what the 6.5 can do. Some are very close, even across a bore or two. Does a 270 have any .....on game...difference to 264wm.
I have had spirited discussions with Gatehouse over his 375 Ruger vs my 375 Rum. If you have one, it's unlikely your going to change to the other. We all have our justifications, history, and biases.
I have some old calibers, some obsolete, some new. My 6.5 has always been the 264wm; actually if I was ever to change my user name, it would be Magnum 2.5. My particular bias is the 2.5" magnum family.
However, I'm not close to consistent. To justify bulging safes, different firearms became special purpose items. My south province walking rifle is a T3 30-06, for the peace it's my Rem 700 lss in 375 Rum. I suspect many people who want a target specific rifle that don't reload, buy a 6.5cm. I do load, so pick the 264 as my 6.5.
One last thought, reloading is becoming more and more necessary. For me, the Kanadian peso, and where I live. I buy and ship a lot of reloading brass and projectile, my principal reason for being on CGN.

Yup, there's lots of youtube video's of game taken farther than that, deer size game that is. Ralph Van Zwoll has taken the creedmoor to Africa and shot an eland with it as well.

It doesn't fit .308 mags. It has its own magazine specification. For example, The X-Bolt has their own 6.5 Creedmoor magazine. It is not a .308 necked down to a 6.5. That would be the .260Rem. The 6.5 Creedmoor is necked down from a .30TC which is a shorter and fatter casing than a .308.
I use my .308 and 6.5 mags interchangeably. You also might be overvaluing Browning's marking of magazines. They mark all their short action BLR mag with specific calibers (.243,.308, etc) even though they're all the same in terms of dimensions.
Classic. My Dad hunts with a 7mm Rem Mag and 7-08. The Magnum all but stays home. Here is what his 08 and 120gr bullits will do. Some think about it to much.

No it doesn't. Look up X-Bolt magazines. They're their own 6.5 Creedmoor magazine marked 6.5 Creedmoor. Here I'll post the link for you.

Have you tried loading the magazine full with 6.5 Creedmoor? The casing is fatter so many magazines for .308 using 6.5 Creedmoor will loose capacity. That is specifically why Browning does a separate 6.5 magazine for it.

Its 2mm shorter not 15/1000ths of an inch. The base diameter is almost the same. The shoulder diameter is wider on the 6.5 Creedmoor. Bottom line is, I'm not wrong at all. There are some manufactures that have specific 6.5 Creedmoor magazines for their guns. However, I'm not right either since obviously there are those who don't.
