what does a 6.5 creedmore do that a 6.5 x 55 doesn't?

My modern Howa 1500, with modern Norma 156 gr Vulkan knocks them down with class and precision. I think the fps edge is a minor detail. :)

I also like the option of reloading, and obviously 6.5x55 has an edge.

6.5x55 is chambered in several modern brands, not hard to find at all.

CM is kinda cool but just another fad. It will likely fade back to its rightful place with the other boutique calibres. :)

The best thing about the 'flavour of the week' is it results in a lot of perfectly good rifles being put up for sale as their owners rush out and buy the latest widget....same can be said about 'bubba'd 'milsurps' that ignorant people turn their noses up at..they shoot just fine-if you hold them straight...( like my 100 year old 'sporterized' swede )
 
Well after reading all this I'm glad the 303 British was mentioned once....

6.5 Creedmore is popular. Finally a new round that people are buying. Over the last 20 years so many new rounds have been sent to market that have been a huge flop. I'm for one happy the 6.5 CR is popular. Outside of the 300 WSM, nothing new is selling in huge quantities. 6.5 CR will be my next purchase. Probably a Vanguard S2.

If you want to target shoot and hunt with the same round, I suggest the 303 British!!!
 
Absolutely Nothing...............But fit in an AR platform and have more options in factory ammo. 2017 #1 selling caliber of the year 6.5 creedmoore

I load 125 and 140 gr partitions in my 6.5 x 55's and my load books don't show me any advantages in favour of the Creedmore. What am I missing?

I am not sure when you vuys get it. Of course 6.5 would do same, maybe a little more. But it is a new cartridge designed for new, stronger actions, which will push this new cartridges to its limits. You don't really want to load your grandfather's rifle with super heavy bullets and hot powders. Its too much liability for gun and ammo manufacrurers.
 
6.5 C at standard pressures will push a lighter bullet faster than the 6.5 x 55; but only by a couple hundred FPS; the 6.5 Swede will push heavier bullets 100+ FPS than the Creed. Average them out; you have no difference. If you shoot light bullets and have tyrannosaurs arms, the short action of the Creed. may be the way to go; if you want to hunt bigger game with heavier bullets and a longer action does not bother you, then stick with the Swede. I think, from a re-loaders stand point, that slightly more powder is required for the Swede; what's a couple of grains here and there, not enough to impact one's wallet too much.

Sure, if one only buys ammo; if one hand-loads as most will do with a rifle that they are going to shoot more than a couple times a year; there is zero advantage to the Creed.

where do people come up with this stuff? Reminds me of a drag race in the movies where the cars jockey back and forth for the lead as they shift up through 20 gears
