To be fair, flat shooting only matters within like 350m, beyond that you need an accurate range finder and you gotta know your drops, at which point how flat it shoots doesn't really matter.
For sure, how far would you shoot at big game with a 6.5 CM?
Likely the 270 win has similar if not greater effective range on game.(?)
Creedmoor as a hunting round? Nothing to see here imo.
Can you think of an animal you have shot with a 260 that you couldn’t have with the CM?
Why yes I have. And I have no clue. I’ve killed a pile of big game with a pile of cartridges. And I can certainly tell you that stuff dies quite handily without ever reading a headstamp. Now will someone please tell me what is actually wrong with the 6.5 CM so we can resolve the matter. Up to this point, no one has.

Q: What will it do that the 6.5x55 won't do?
A: Help the US Military make America great again.![]()
What does the 6.5 cm do that the 6.5x55 won't do. Exactly the same thing that the 7-08 does for a 7x57. Fit in a short action, fire full power factory loads that don't need to be lawyer proof for 100 yr old rifles, and sell rifles that people don't need with the help of marketing campaigns.
There are a lot of standard calibers between say 25 and 30 that could be substituted for one another. All would kill deer, all make little holes in paper. If I have any of them....I don't "need " the others. If I didn't have any of them, the 6.5 cm would do.
Who's kidding who....this is CGN....I have most of them.
Shot this 45 minutes ago. I sure wish it was a 260. Which I have no problem with by the way.

John Barsness, IMO one of the more experienced and objective gun writers, posted this comment on a 6.5CM thread the other day-
With enough powder capacity to drive the 0.585 BC 115gr DTACs at 3150+ fps, the .243 Win is an outstanding long-range cartridge. George Gardner of GA Precision recently won the long-range Shumway Cup segment of the 2006 Snipers’ Hide Cup shooting a straight .243 Win. In so doing, George bested Terry Cross (.260 Rem) and David Tubb (6XC), so you can see the .243 is a top performer at long distances. In fact, in terms of Wind Drift, a .243 running 115s at 3150 fps beats both the .260 Rem (2850 fps) and the 6.5-284 (2950 fps) running 142 MatchKings.
Funny there is talk about how standardized the 6.5CM is, I don't have a single match 140gr I can seat to 2.800 without jamming the lands. Longest I can go with is Hornady at 2.770.
There is some old gunsmith on YouTube spouting about this issue as well, he's extremely boring and drones on and on, I'll see if I can find it.
Why are you so afraid of the truth? Call someone else names, preferably to their face, please.
