What does a G17 like to be fed?

My G17 eats anything and everything from 9mm reloads to +P+... I haven't had a single stoppage with any type of factory or commercial reloads. Feed it whatever you happen to have...

40 S&W.

JK

I generally use 124 gn FMJ from Canadian BDX at the range.

I handloaded some 115gn JHP's with 5.0 gn of Bullseye... for when I'm at the range ;)

Honestly pretty much any standard ammunition. If you want the cheapest stuff in town go buy some S&B from CT south. Only stoppage I have seen or experienced was with this weird 80 grain frangible garbage. For home defense find a good JHP. Silvertip, Golden Sabre or the like. Backcountry had some Personal protection 9mm last time i was in. Almost $1 a pop though.

Given the scenarios you listed, your loads will be completely different in my mind. A smaller grain projectile with minimum charges is just fine for the plinking, but home defense you will want a comparatively heavier projectile with full power loads.

####, you'll probably end up reloading anyways, why not start there :)

Well if you are looking for pretty shiny parts for your Glock, like you posted in your other thread, maybe you should consider "pink" ammo.

Maybe some rounds that match your outfit. ;)

Glocks eat anything. That is why they are Glocks,

If you want details.... Best plinking ammo in Red Deer is S&B 115grn from CT south. 13.49\50. Best SD ammo in red deer is sitting in Backcountry sports $48.99\50. THe best deal in AB is combat masters but be prepared to not even know if you got through to anyone! My CC was randomly charged one day and the ammo showed up shortly after. I will drop you a PM sometime soon buddy!

124 wc's 124 fmj rn's, it all likes it. just have to make sure OAL is shorter.

More specificaly,... plinking-price,... home protection-knock down power

For starters "knock down power" is a fabricated term that has no credibility. There is no such thing as one shot stops or guarantees when using a firearm for defense(or offense). Only hits count, the rest is trivial. A quality HP round can add to the equation but it is not something to bank on. Solid hits, and lots of them win the day. As for loads, train how you fight. If you're going to shoot low power loads for fun and run some +P loads for HD you're only handicapping yourself.

Your Glock will eat anything except birdshot. I know, why would anyone run birdshot in a pistol.
