What does everyone use as their "bush" gun?

If it's grizzly _defense_, then I think it's sorta like that old line about the best gun at a gunfight is the one you brought... any of them "could" stop a bear. Though odds are it'll eat you first, regardless of what you brought;-)

Huh? I see the smiley face at the end so I assume you're kidding.

No offense intended but I think I'll put my faith in the following advice rather than the above and keep on practising.

"In a normal bear defense situation, and excluding hunting of grizzlies at close range, a person who is proficient with a large calibre rifle or pump 12-guage shotgun can reduce the risk of injury or death during a bear attack to about nil.". From "Bear Encounter Survival Guide" 1994 by James Gary Shelton, page 117.

Sorry for the Grizz question i was just digging for some more reasons to buy myself a new guide gun and the 45/70 was turning me on :dancingbanana:
 
Well, I like dad's 94 30-30win big time, but since it's an heritage from my grand-dad, I don't want to dammage it any, so it stays warm and dry. I mostly use my Rem 7600 in 308win with 1.5X4.5 optics. Lately I'v been getting the itch for a Ruger Deerfield or 44mag Marlin and I really want a 1895 GS also... I just don't know where to go :runaway:
 
I pack a Marlin 1894 in .44 mag. loaded with 265 gr Hornady FP over a healthy dose of H110. Never had to use it but I think it would do the trick as long as I did my part. (Fortunately no grizzlies around here or I'd pack the 1895 in 45-70 with 405 gr. hard cast over RL7. If I were regularly in griz. country I'd probably want a guide gun, or get this one cut to 20")

After trying a variety of ideas, the combination gun - 30-06/12ga (with slugs) still came out on top for me!
