There is quite a bit of information on SKS factory codes 'out there'. I just checked a jpg I found somewhere and there is no factory '6'; every code has 2 or more digits. The figure sixes are angled and extaggerated.

ya all it says is SKS 7.62X39 94870.. MADE IN CHINA BY NORINCO AND THERES OTHER THINGS THERE I CANT DISTIGUISH then right under it theres a triangle with a very clear 6 in it the serial numberslast 5 digits is on stck magazine trigger group even bolt.

Mine has a 0406 stamped in a triangle, followed by 11, F58XX then 7.62x39 Made in China by Norinco. The F58XX is stamped on all parts. The other number on the barrel would be an assembly number of sorts. Was intended for the US market but the 1993 bill prohibiting the import of Norinco "assault" weapons kaiboshed their import. Some filtered into Canada and then there was a big shipment a few years ago of the rest of them. Some had stuff stamped in the wood, other did not. Some had the sling mount on the bottom, some had them on the right hand side. The shipment seemed to span many different factories and years. Mine has a threaded barrel (instead of press fit into receiver) and a stamped trigger group. The only set styles of making rifles seems to apply to the Factory 26 rifles. All the other factories were a mishmash of whatever parts they had on hand...
