The responsibility for the above rests with the one who initiated the communication. I am not sure whether the information came from EE or elsewhere, but I think the originator in most cases would likely offer some clarification, particularly if you point out that you are a newbie, at least respecting CGN.

I was given this gun however I am not sure what I have, what it is good for or what it is worth?
That was the reason for the question.
Thanks in advance.

I d say a 6xc caliber built on a remington xr action. Id say it was built for f class which is long range shooting prone off a front rest and rear bag.

6CX is a target-centric cartridge promoted by David Tubb, a very famous shooter.

F-Class is a type of long range competition started by a Canadian who couldn't see his sights anymore, but kept his power of persuasion.

Remington XR action likely means Remington XR100 action, a stiff singleshot.

Accurized by mcm might mean accurized by McMillan. It would be cool if it did. Accurizing in this case indicates fixing everything that Remington did wrong.

Virieler match barrel would seem to be a brand name of barrel, but not one I'm familiar with.

Sightron 10-50 is the brand and power range of the scope.

Custom aluminum stock means just what it says. Bipod means 2 legs, and is a front support for shooting.

Redding match dies are caliber specific tools for sizing cases and seating bullets. Its kind of good you have them.

What is it? A 300-1000 yard prone target rifle.

Whats it worth? That's tricky. A target rifle is worth what it cost to build when you're the one paying and the worth of the used action, trigger and stock when you're one buying.Kiss the barrel and gunsmithing costs good-bye unless the gunsmith happens to be famous. I'd shoot it, in which case its worth whatever you think it is.

Dogleg pretty much "nailed it" as far as I am concerned, with one minor clarification - it's actually "worth" what you can find a buyer to pay for it.
You want someone who recognizes and values the brand names that you have mentioned.
And, an observation after many purchases on this site - "custom" should mean work done by someone like Ralf Martini, but often turns out to be work done by the neighbour's brother-in-law's friend who has a drill press. Words like "custom", "match" and "accurized" need to have a lot more information to have any northward effect on my offering price.

McM is Mick Mcphee. Mick was a very talented Gunsmith who passed away two years ago. Should be a good shooting rifle.

That actually explains things a lot.
I will see if I can nail things down a bit and take a bunch of pictures to post here.
Thank you.

How do you post a picture, I have a picture of a barrel with a MCM touch mark and the barrel caliber I think however I am not sure how to get it from my phone or my laptop to here.

Thanks in advance.

go to a website like IMGUR.com and you can host the image there. The website will then give you a "BBC Code Link" that you post here for all of us to see the picture.

Why does posting pics on here have to be a "geek" process ? many other forums will download from your comp. pics ??? prey tell for us old comp. illiterate peeps. One for the moderators ?

They allow that if you are a paying member of the forums

The main reason is likely that CGN doesn't want to have to pay for server space to store huge numbers of pictures. If the picture is uploaded to another site and shared via URL then it does not cost CGN extra to host it.

That is the same touch mark that I have on my barrel except it has a 30-338 under the MCM.
The barrel is stainless as is the one on the 6X target rifle' however the 6X barrel has been dimpled with a milling machine.
I uploaded the pic to flickr however still working on the url to post here.
Also have pics of my Styer 50.
