One of the items on my gun related bucket list is a super light m14 build. Glad I am not the only one thinking along those lines. I wonder if a poly stock would be significantly lighter than a wood one? And how much lighter is a 18 barrel vs a 22 barrel? Looks like you have a 22 on that picture? And any reason for the scout rail hand guard? Would the original not be lighter?

with a full mag, optics, and the archangel, I'm thinking I'm in the 14lb range.
I'm currently working on a sbr ar308, and think that with all the trimmings will be around 9lbs.
in all honesty, I've never really made to much fuss about weight, so long as it is handy.

7.1lb unloaded with no optics. 8.3lb with a 1-6x SFP optic and mount. Much easier to achieve with the AR platform by throwing a bunch of titanium parts on it. Could've gone to 6.5lb but kept the weight distribution balanced and not using a pencil barrel.

Parts list:

Upper Parts
Stag 10 upper
SLR adjustable gas block
YHM nitride black gas tube
MRA fluted match barrel 1:11.25 twist 18.6"
Strike Industries Ext charging handle
Strike Industries dust cover
POF roller cam pin
Brownells titanium BCG
Anarchy titanium brake/fh
V7 ultralight handguard
V7 ultralight forward assist
Aero Precision lightweight scope mount

Lower Parts
Stag 10 lower
V7 titanium end plate
V7 titanium hybrid RH safety
V7 titanium trigger hammer pins
V7 titanium takedown pins
V7 titanium grip screw
V7 titanium buffer retaining pin
V7 ultralight mag release
V7 ultralight bolt catch
V7 ultralight castle nut
Velocity 3lb flat shoe trigger pack
Hogue lightweight trigger guard
Magpul extended mag button
MFT Engage v2 grip
PWS enhanced buffer tube
Odin Works adjustable buffer
Springco Ar10 Orange spring
BCM gunfighter mod 0 stock

I think my m14 is around 11-12lbs with a 20 round mag, m12 casm 2 mount and scope on it, usgi wood stock. I too have a rubber pad on the end of mine. Helps with the length of pull more than weight. Never really worried about the weight of it :)

I chopped a long barrel M305 to 18.75" and the piece I cut off weighed approximately 4oz. That's for barrel only, does not include muzzle device or front sight. They're such a light profile that the extra barrel length on the longer version doesn't add much weight.

Stag 10 matched receivers, Faxon Big Gunner barrel 18.6" Faxon fm bcg, Superlative arms adjustable gas block, Maple Ridge 17" handguard, Dpms commercial carbine buffer tube buffer and spring. FAB Defense GL core stock, Flip up 45 sights, sling swivals and sling, stubby grip and rail covers with ACS 10rd mag and a cheapo Barska 3x9(for now) comes to 10lbs 5oz.

Stag-10 6.5 Creed 19" IBI DMR contour weighs 14.1lbs with a Bushnell LRTSi 3-12, Harris 6-9 (with spikes and RRS adapter) and a BFG padded Vickers sling with metal hardware and an empty mag. The bipod and sling together weigh about 2.5lbs, haha. Rifle balances great in hand, nice to shoot offhand and is accurate out to 830 yards (as far as I've shot it so far).

so far my stag10 .308 weighs 7lbs 6oz without magazine
Still don't have an optic yet though it does have magpul buis.
I'm not adding much more too it but it needs a forward sling mount and some kind of modest hand stop/brace point.
I have the MRA pencil 18.6" 5r barrel and their 15" handguard and love the way the rifle balances out.
The goal is a max 9pound rifle fully loaded out , not counting the sling.

Please do tell, what other goodies did you use to get it so light? My stag 10 bare with a mag and stock was 8lb 6oz. I know I could have cut alot more weight in the BCG but I went with full mass to aid in chambering under adverse weather conditions as I live int the Arctic. And it gets flippin cold so.... Thought it be better to be safe.
