What does YOUR gun room look like?

I see so many pics of nice gun rooms that I'm almost ashamed to show my "cave". Not the prettiest gun room in the world, but VERY functional. Some guys have BEAUTIFUL gun room/study setups, not me. I have a gun room/gunsmithing workshop that is a study in organized messiness :)

Let's begin the tour.

The Entrance: small bayonet display, compressor, long rack of rifles - mostly Mausers and Mosins on this rack.

Let's look to the left as we pass through the entrance: A couple muzzle-stuffers and some more Mausers.

Now we arrive at the main room, you can see the floor drill press, the mill, the lathe, the grinder and the bandsaw along with the gun rest and vise:

The lathe "island" and the reloading bench in behind it. Note the BEvERage fridge.

A row of inexpensive gun cabinets holds the more valuable guns and restricteds.

And there are even some guns hanging from the ceiling :)

Ok, now it's someone else's turn to look cool until Klunk shows up in this thread and makes us look bad ;)

Do you find dust etc from the mashine work ending up on your rifles, or is that not an issue?

My gun room is merely a study with alot of ammo crates and guns in it, not quite photo worthy.

I do like your set-up, very functional indeed.

I prefer the cave setup myself. Extra points if it's behind a fake wall :D

It is an issue with wood working, but the metal machines don't generate any dust unless you are machining cast iron. Other metal you just end up with chips that aren't airborne. Had this gun room 3 years, no dust problem yet :)

I do woodworking in the other shop. The bandsaw is used for cutting aluminum, not wood :)

No need to be ashamed of your cave, you have far more and better "contents" than I am likely to be able to afford any time soon.

I would far rather have even part of your collection than a fancy room to display a less worthy and less numerous aquisitions!

I love how this topic always leads to "what the f do you do for a living?" because people have so many guns.

I live in an apartment and my gun "room" is a cabinet I made myself. Pic is on the other computer.

"so many guns" has more to do with age and persistance than income IMHO. For the record, I'm a mechanical engineer - not a doctor, lawyer, or venture capitalist ;)

I've posted these on the "gun rooms" thread in the photo gallery, but here is my pile of junk again, a few different views:

The room seems to keep getting smaller. I don't know whether to get a bigger house or just sell all this crap and start collecting stamps instead.

Collect Stamps! I'll be at your door with my cheque book! :D

Claven2 That MG42 you have hanging up in your room is my dream! I would give anything to be legally able to own one... I'd even settle for a de-activated one but I can't find them anywhere!

As for my "gun room" I have a cheap Canadian Tire 8 gun safe... Only own 5 guns (2 k98's, 1 Mosin, 1 p38, and a Savage Mk2 BVTS rimfire) but one day I hope to have a collection like some of these!

They're around... just keep searching... it took me awile, but it eventually turned up in the EE. :D

The MKL entry also includes several on-line videos of the MG42 assembly & disassembly, as well combat action, plus there's a contemporary one that shows a U.S. owner (lucky guy) letting loose with an entire 250 round belt in one long burst. Not good for the barrel, but certainly fun to do, at least once.

Oh... and by the way guys, those are some beautiful collector's rooms... time for a beer party at some of those places ... :D

Badger

As for the "MG42", it's not. It's an MG34, a TNW semi-automatic dot43.

My bad... I want one of those too though. ;)

Yes indeed. Patience has never been my best virtue though. Lol. I've even been thinking of finding someone with the proper licencing to buy one of the ones from Marstar for me and then getting it deactivated... (He says knowing that the Milsurp world will now come down and beat his a$$!)
