an old Winchester Model 37 fetch at a gun show table?
Going through my inventory and found this poor old gal.
Single shot 16 gauge break open and it has a hammer.
No chit.
Not the bestest shape, but given her age, her hips are still tight.
The inside of the tube is mirror sparkly.
I wouldn't be inbare-arsed to have her slung over me forearm.

Sqweezed a few more into Photosucksitt.

Picktyures, I know..............still 'avvint figured owt this rigg-ah-more-ole..............

I figure they are worth at least $125.00 in not bad condition, I had a fella offer to buy mine and he wouldn't pay over $80.00 sight unseen. Hope you get a decent buck for it.

I must be different on this one. In that condition I would say $75 . I sold way nicer 20ga ones for that. Just don't find the original 37's have a following like the cooey 84s do
I thought all Model 37's will be "Steelbilt" stamped but only the pre-1948 guns with the word WINCHESTER stamped under the receiver will be "red letters" and of collector interest. I have seen a number of guns with the stamping but no paint remaining but according to experts, it should have been there originally.I am by no means a collector of these and could be wrong having I think just two in the herd one because it is a 28ga and one other red letter Cheers

Well, if you were selling privately I'd say around $100.00 for the gun shown. If it were listed in a gun auction probably closer to $10,000.00 lol. Of course you'd have to pay the auctioneer!

Looky, my outdated Blue Book of Gun Values states that a 100% NIB would be worth $475.00 for a 12 gauge...
Again, it would have to be perfect ....
They all value about the same for the 12, 16 and 20 gauge $75.00 for a 60% condition to $300.00 for the 100%.
What is interesting though is a 28gauge in 100% condition has an outdated value of $1600.00 and the book states that most 28g had the Red lettering.
They where not serial numbered and over 1,015,00 manufactured between 1936 and 1963. all where full choked too.
Again, this is from the twenty-sixth edition of the Blue book....

What does it say for other red lettered guns Rob. Not this one shown
Cheers

Super clean Cooey 84's are trading at around 175.00. In my opinion the 37 is a better built gun. .410's and 28's are always worth more it seems but the 16 is the perfect balance of frame and barrel size. I just bought a virtually NIB Cooey 84 in 16 bore and it set me back close to 200.00. Case colours are mint and the walnut is beautiful. The 37 noted I feel would be worth 125.00 most days they are GOOD shotguns. The 37A does not even come into this discussion with its plastic parts and cast metal trigger guard and birch stocks.

You are right. Lots of 84's still but how many are mint and worth keeping as collectables. They were just not purchased for that reason when new and most got shot to death. I think my last 16ga 84 I kept I gave the one I had to the guy plus 125 since his was super clean and was lucky to find it so we are pretty much the same at $200

3macs, take this for whats its worth...
The book suggests that a 20%premium for ''Red Lettered'' models.
I use the book as a barometer of what gun Values are today and what they where according to the 26th Edition.
I hold the book in Higher Regard over what I see firearms going for in the EE.
Plus, there is usually some information gleaned for general knowledge from within the pages.
It isnt a Bible, but it is a respected book.

I've used it as a guide for years but admit trying to get a used purchase in the ball park is a challenge

No "Winchester" tattew enscribble on the bottum'in.
Must be a rare berd and yew-neek?
Whoooooooot, gonna be a crowd try'n tuh skewp'er up...........

The Book pricing is not a accurate way of pricing firearms in the north America market today it isuch mor complex than that and involves research and knowledge and as far a beaters as the one in question it really has no bearing . 37"s are excellent shotgun far superior to any Cooey ever made the most noticable upgrade is mzchined chokes instead of swagged . As for the gun in question $76-$150 depending on buyers needs
