what dog for ducks and grouse?

looking to buy a dog, that i can train to hunt ducks and upland game birds.
what breeds are good for this?

Both breeds are good looking and smart. I'm hoping for a more settled dog in the duck blind and smart in the house.

I have an 8 year old German Shorthair right now. I just started waterfowl hunting last year. A Deutsch Drahthaar will be my next dog - I've already begun visiting kennels. And that's the best advice I can give - find a reputable breeder and visit...more than once.

Labs can and will do it all, be it all day in harsh weather conditions or bashing through the brambles, they just keep on going !

brittany the only spaniel that will point. Plus they are only 35 lbs so they tend not to run you and your kids over, as much? not like a 50-75 lb lab

Not true. French Spaniel's point, as does the Epagneul Picard (and I think Pont Audemers, also). But I do know enough to know that I don't enough about gun dogs to state that there are probably others that point, too.

Suppport a true Canadian breed and get a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever aka "Toller".
The only dog that will bring ("toll") the ducks in for you and then retrieve it too.
