Hey guys

I was at aa match last weekend and noticed that my old electronic hearing protection wasn't dampening shots very well, it's good enough for 22's but I noticed that centrefire pistols are pretty loud through the protection.

What are you guys using?

I 'd like a muff that can be used under a wide brimmed hat if possible (I do CAS) that has convenient to access battery covers so I can use rechargeable batteries. Do they make elec muffs with integral batteries that you can plug in and charge? If so, that would be cool.

Bluetooth would be nice, but not a requirement.

Check out a site sponsor at the top of the page. SRS Tactical out of Calgary. Got my Sordin Supreme pro X from them.
The sordin supreme (formerly MSA Sordin) also offers a neckband version but it doesn't have bluetooth.
They have Peltor and Sordin with blue tooth but no neckband.
You might be able to find something there.

I have the Sordin Pro's which are excellent but pricey.
When there are big boomers on the range I double muff with Surefire EP3 Sonic Defenders, about 45 bucks at Amazon.

Very effective, and can converse.

I have Sordin Supreme Pro 10 for over the ear and use them occasionally in the winter or indoor when I'm teaching a line of people. Mostly though I use my Otto NoizeBarrier Micro with custom molded earplugs on them. I only use them when teaching, RO'ing or practicing. If I'm competing I use solid plugs as I only want to hear the RO's commands and the timer, that's it. I don't want to hear anything else.

I have MSA Sordin ear muffs that I use at the range - still like to use in combo with foam ear plugs. Highly recommend the gell ear-seals upgrade - sort of criminal that they don't come standard.

For hunting I use Sylinx Clarus Pro electronic earbuds. These are the civilian version. Work well but can be hard to get the buds to stay in your ears at lower temps and the wires are a pain. No Bluetooth but can connect to 2Way radio via 3.5mm plug.

I've been using Howard Leight Impact Pro for two years for shooting indoors. Does its work very well and batteries last for quite some time. In over two years of weekly use I've only changed them once.

They are quite affordable for electronic muffs (+/- $100).

Sure, they are bulkier than other muffs but the dB reduction rating is greater then slimmer muffs.

Howard Leight Impact Sport. Less bulky than the pros, dont get in the way of cheek weld. Not Gucci but at $50-65 great value. I have a couple pairs, dont mine letting the kids use em at that price too.

Agreed.

I run custom moulded ear plugs with MSA sordins over the top. With the amplification I can just hear people talk but I feel like it makes me shoot better (less flinch) and its got to be better for my ears (either the plugs or muffs are OK on their own but noticeably louder than being double plugged).
