There are real HK UMPs here in canada in civilian hands (restricted), very few, but hereI was referring to a REAL UMP45 converted to semi.
Overrated, impossible to support(or afford) and ammo is prohibitively expensive.

Hmmmm... never knew that!
I was referring to a REAL UMP45 converted to semi.
Let's just all use Mosin Nagants and SKS's...
Easy to find, highly rated, cheap ammo.
Why in the world would anybody ever want anything else?
Very rare, under 10 in the country.
They go for over 10k whenever you see one for sale.
You said it, prohibitively expensive if you can find one. I'm sure parts and magazines would be available at your local Canadian Tire.Nothing wrong with sourcing quality gear, but there comes a point where supporting it isn't worth the price, hassle, or wait. I guess if you shoot from the bench twice a year for a total of 200 rounds you'd be ok.

Sure, for that gun and a few other similar guns, they are priced outside the realm of reality.
That said, many of the other guns discussed are a third of that cost, in other words the same cost as a high end AR-15.
Where is the line drawn on what others should and should not buy?
the ones here are all 9mm I believe
I think we can all agree we would LIKE to have a greater selection or NR but its just not the case right now... if ever![]()
EXACTLY! I hate hearing about the XCR, RFB, Swiss Arm, etc etc because they are some of the only NR blacks in Canada, and are wayyy too popular. I would love to see a Canadian manufacture!
Keep dreaming. The firearm market in Canada is far too small for anyone to make a profit with a ground up design.

I don't understand this thread. The popular rifles are too popular? What?
I think we've got a pretty good selection of non-restricted rifles right now to be honest.
Between converted ACRs, Swiss Arms, the Tavor and a whole host of other weird and wonderful guns (T97 someday bahaha) there's a fair number of options around.
Even those pricey european guns have their place.
Our selection ranges between "cheap knockoffs dirt cheap" to "way too expensive for the average shooter" and 10000 types of bolt action rifles.
