What firearm for fun?

Took the 17 Fireball out last night and it was alot of fun, It's a Rem 700 with a fluted heavy barrel in a tan HS precision stock with a Leupold VX-II 6-18x40 in Kelbly rings and bases, I was shooting Rem bulk pack ammo, we were shooting 500ml water bottles at 275 and 325 yards consistentaly and could watch the bottle explode with the scope at 18X.
 
Most used calibers

I have many cals from 17 REM to 458 WIN MAG, by far the most often used are the 22LR in a good grade scoped bolt guns, When teaching kids for hunting I use an assortment of 308 Wins, for teaching adults I step it up to an old ruger in 300Win Mag. so it greatly depends on what you really want to do with your guns.
 
I shoot a 17HMR for fun. Its not too loud, its accurate, and it still blows up water bottles. The coolest not alive thing I've shot was a full can of spray foam. It made a mess but man was it cool. We also shoot trap with various shotguns. Thats always fun too.
 
I've got the tricked out 10/22 but in all honesty my go to fun gun is a Savage 93f17.
That little round is like a laser out to about 200 yards. I've won many a bet on hitting bottles positioned by friends in seemingly difficult locations only to have the Savage nail it every time. I purchased the cheapest wood stocked version and a vortex 4x12 and once I got that sucker dialed in its unstoppable. All for about $.30 a round. Definitely my first go to fun gun.

That being said, I always bring along my 870 tactical and some high brass just for the thrill of it. Nothing like unloading 8 rounds of 00buck or slugs in a short time. Newbies I bring out usually cannot believe the power it can put down range.

Both fun to shoot and very accurate ... the JR Carbine can be tricked out with most AR-15 aftermarket furniture too.
 
My 527 CZ carbine in 7.62x39 is a dream to shoot with the single set trigger. And ammo only costs about (if you buy bulk) 24 cents a shot.
If you have your restricted I would suggest a Ruger Blackhawk in 38 sp << I didn't think that a revolver would be more fun then a semi but it is.

If I'm just going out for a drive in the country I'll take my 17 Rem FB. That thing is fun. Going to shoot paper I will take it and a bolt action .223 and generally just shoot the .223, unless a crow comes around.

Very true. My Ruger Gold Label 12 gauge, a hand thrower, a flat of 250 shells and a couple cases of clays is about as much fun as you can have with your pants on. Informal clays is just damn fun. We have a shoot once a week at work, nice big hill to throw them down and we stand on top of an ATCO for a shooting platform, talk about fun. I enjoy how erratic the hand throwers are too, mechanical throwers below the big money electronic stuff are pretty boring.
 
I belong to a club that has a pistol, rifle, cowboy action, trap, skeet, archery, and airsoft range. They are all fun for me but for all around fun I will either take out my Browning BPS and shoot some trap (Lord knows I need the practise) or my sweet BSA Model 8 Martini 22. And the thing is a tack driver with a tang sight. Weird actions are my "fun" guns. Bolts etc are boring after a while but I never get tired of falling blocks and there are so many choices. May add another "fun" gun a Springfield Trapdoor Carbine in 45/70. Such a totally KOOL mech even if it didnt work all that well for Custers troops.. Even Hickock loves them. I swear that guy drools sometimes when hes shooting... :)
