I wouldn't get either my self, and I have owned both. Get a 7mm-08, mild recoil in a short action rifle. When loaded with a quality 140 gr bullet your good for deer to moose. IMHO
If you are open to other possibilities, this is excellent advice and a truly superb cartridge, as is the 260 Rem which you may wish to consider. My 11 year old son has been shooting a 260 for 3 years now, recoil is not an issue and this is a good 250-300 mtr rifle easily, as is the 7-08.
Do you reload? If not then I would say check out the 25-06, no recoil and will do all a 270 will. Good thread on 243 vs 25-06 in "hunting and sporting rifles"
forum, lots of info and might offer you even more options.
Then there is the 257 Wby and 264 Win both of which outperform the 270 with about the same recoil or less.
My advice is to do a little more research before you limit your choices to the 243 or 270, these are fine cartridges but there are better out there that meet your criteria and won't boot your teeth loose.
Another just came to mind, which I would HIGHLY recommend and that's the 6.5X55, like I said lots of possibilities.
