Looking for new scope ideas. My Savage MkII is currently wearing a Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40AO. To quote Chuck Hawks"This scope is relatively insensitive to eye position and has generous eye relief, 3.5 inches to 4.2 inches, making it easy to look through even if your eye is not exactly in the "sweet spot." " I find the Vortex's sweet spot hard to find and easy to lose.

I'm looking to upgrade, I posted a thread in Optics but it hasn't seen much love so I thought I would try here.

Currently using 2 different brands on my .22's
Remington 581L has a Weaver Classic V 6-24x42 with the Varmiter reticle.
Savage Mark11 BTVLSS is wearing a Mueller 8-32x44 with a Target Dot reticle.
CZ 452L has a Sightron S11 Big Sky 6-24x42 with the Silhouette reticle.
All 3 are great scopes. For the money, the Mueller is hard to beat.

Older Bushnell Banner 3-9x32mm

It's old enough to be made of metal and in Japan. I paid $25 for it in a clearance bin at Epps. My friends made fun of me for it but it stays zeroed and works just fine.

The only reason I'd upgrade is for a scope with AO.

Tasco Pronghorn 3-9x40 on my 10/22. Bought it for half price, $49.99, at CT. Very pleased with it so I bought another one because of the sale price.

hey cheeseburger how do you like the savage I am thinking about getting a left hand bolt gun would you recommend spending more on a cz or is the savage good enough.

I have never had a CZ so I can't say much about them. I'm sure if you search you can find some CZ vs Savage debates. I'm happy with mine, it's accurate and works for me. Mine is pre-accutrigger so I'll probably put an aftermarket trigger in it eventually.

Second that - I have two of them and love them!! Fantastic and lightweight scope...couldn't ask for more out of it.

What ranges are you guys shooting out to with the 2-7? I'm using mine for gophers and paper out to max 200 yards.

I have a Mueller APT on my .22WMR, 2 old Bushnell (Japanese) scopechiefs on .22s, a "Red" brand scope 3-9x40 on another .22 (Chinese I'm sure, but pretty good) and a new Vortex Crossfire II 4-12x AO on my new Marlin 17M2. I'm considering an HMR purchase in the coming days...and trying to talk myself out of a Viper HS. My .223 wears one, the nicest scope I've ever used. The Leupold guys~is that a rimfire model?

Mueller makes a very nice scope, I have a dozen or so... the APV (4.5-14X40mm) is probably the best scope value out there... I have used pretty much every rimfire (SF or adjustable AO) scope out there and my new "go to" scopes are the Hawke Varmint SF line (2.5-10, 3-12, 4-16, 6-24), with side focus and a fantastic 1/2 Mil-Dot reticle.
