What Guns are you using for Bear Hunting this Year?

Stevens 200 - .270 win. Lightest damn rifle I own, and about the only one I wanna carry through the bush anymore. I have a few levers but dont wanna mess em up. The Stevens I bought to beat the #### outta and thats what I plan on doing. Im not gonna shoot the bear I am gonna beat it to death. LOL

None I sold my 45-70 to a great guy on this site.I will try again with the bow this year . there are so many bears around here it would be too easy to shoot one with a gun.

If i get a chance to get out, it will be with my Rem 700 in 300 Ultra Mag, hopefully wearing it's new stock.

Bullet choice is still to be decided, but likely a 180 gr something, or maybe 220 gr partitions.

If I end up going this year, Ill be taking either my Savage No.4 Mk.1 Enfield with 170grain Winchester powerpoints, my Winchester 94 30-30 with 160 grain Hornady Lever-evolutions or my 1942 Mosin-Nagant sniper clone with 150grain PRVI partisans

Whatever suits my fancy that day, I've got lots of choice.

I've killed black bears with lots of different rifles and cartridges form .223 to .375.

I might try my (relatively new to me) .45 Colt Trapper loaded with 300gr OMA hard cast bullets, or maybe 250gr XTP's. Both should do the trick, easily. All I've killed with it has been a single bull, so I should probably take it hunting.

M88 308 (150 Gr)
TC Encore 15" barrel in 45/70 (350 Gr)
TC Encore 24" barrel in 270win (150 Gr)
CVA 20" barrel 90 Gr's BP with 295 Gr Round ball
Compound Bow (if I'm good enough of a shot come this fall backed up by the 45/70)

I'll be rocking the Husqvarna M98 in 9.3x62 with 286 Normas.

Our provincial bag limit is 2 black bears..... after that you have to wait for them to attack you first..... ;)

if you stay away from those grassy roadside ditches, the odds of attack drop quite a bit :p:D

I think I will take my Marlin 1894 in 44 Rem Mag loaded with 270gr Speer gold dots @ 1550 fps

well if your after grizzly just go fire your rifle in their territory and wait apparently....
I've been told by many people that the sound of a rifle going off is like a dinner bell to them, so would that be considered baiting?
not that I'd go after a grizzly not really edible.

My brother hasn't replied yet which surprises me since he's going bear hunting with me he will be using his P17 in 30-06 (180 gr) and his Browning A5 depending on comfortable he is with the P17.
