what happen to this bear?? (graphic pics)

did some bear hunting in hartland, and got one friday night before i headed home. she aint huge, but beats an empty freezer.

thought maybe it was a two year old at first, but shes an old sow, hardley a tooth left in her head, and the few that are, are pretty ground down. stomach was mostly clover and other greens.

she had this on her nose though, so no stuffing the head i guess

anyone know what would cause such a wound? wasnt bleeding, was like that when she hit the ground (bang flop). we dunno if she got in a fight, cut or what.

would a connibear be able to do that?

we cant use traps for bears in NB, the government makes enough pushing them as big game rather than a furbearer.

Meaning they end up not being able to feed themselves.

I don't see why not. Once it snaps shut it may not have completly sliced it but probably dug in and she could have ripped it off? I don't know, but it would be my guess. Still a nice bear.

very wierd. Can't see how another bear/aminal could do something like that. My guess would be trap too or it somehow stuck its nose on a hot surface ie BBQ


is there still nostrils? Could she smell you think?

I dont think a conibear would do that. They dont cut threw beaver so why would it on a bear? It's almost a perfect cut, very odd.. Good job on taking her, and congrats on your bear! I'm still hoping I get one, but the season is slowly running out!

I would take that to your wildlife office and ask for another tag cous it looks like that one is diseased.

Possibly it got it's nose stuck in a food tin can that only had the lid partially removed and folded in. Finally cut off it's own nose to get the can off.
