What happened to Bushnell Elite scopes? I went to Bushnell's website and they no longer list it. I was going to buy a new scope. Next step up from a 4-16x.

Other then the Elite Tactical, everything Bushnell is made in China now sadly.
I suspect they won't be around much longer trying to sell $1000 Chinese scopes.

You do understand that it's not about where or by whom it is made BUT how???

I understand the horrible track records in regard to quality control with optics (and just about everything else) coming out of China.
I also understand labor rates, skilled vs unskilled labor, and how much it actually costs to make a rifle scope.
If Japan can retail an excellent rifle scope for $250 here, excellent Phillipines scopes start at under $200, US made Leupold entry level are great and start at $300....why would I pay considerably MORE for CHINESE made scopes that are going to be inferior to all these?

Just for reference, could you list the brand/model of scopes you're referring to/comparing against?

Nikon Prostaff 2, Sightron SIH for Philippines.
Elite 3500 for Japan.
Leupold Freedom for US.
All in 3-9x40, 4-12x40 are a few bucks more but nothing major. They are better then anything Chinese in the same price bracket or even the Chinese stuff twice the price. That carries through the entire price range of optics, you will pay more for inferior glass if it's made in China vs the 3 mentioned above.

Remember Bushnell has a record for excellent warranty and are in the GTA and usually send you back a new replacement vs repairing and will upgrade from an older model if it’s no longer available and warranty is transferable or not an issue who bought it as I have experienced.—Dieseldog!

Crazy. I've loved Elite scopes forever and a day. Very disappointing. I also love Nikon but they are done making rifle scopes....

I will say I have no dog in this fight but all the warranty in the world does me no good if my scopes foggy or loses zero at camp.

Hmmm... Nikon gone from the marketplace. Sightron is irrelevant...

Considering Bushnell Trophy scopes sell for under $200, have great glass, and are probably on more rifles than the other 2 combined... i'd say they are doing pretty well for themselves.

Im no big fan of china... but they have the capability to produce good products... if you are willing to pay them for said product. But they will happily take your money and produce crap too.

Just picked up on clearance 2 Elite LRTS 4.5-18x44 G3 bronze for $1200 to my door....They are awesome optics, made in Japan. No way Id buy scopes made in China for anything more then $100-200. In my experience, Chinese equals junk.
