... I take it you had one to many to drink when you where loading and gave her a Double charge!
Looks like a double charge
Looks like an over charge or ...
Double charge likely.
looks like double charge.....you have to stop watching the CBC when you reload![]()
I would think an overcharge was most likely.
Well, if failure analysis could successfully be done by popular vote, this one would be wrapped.

Sadly, in the real world it's better just to know what you're talking about.
When a cylindrical vessel is internally pressurized, stress in the radial direction (hoop stress) is much greater than axial stress. About 2.5 times as great. This means that unless the vessel is much weaker at the ends, it will always fail radially, by expanding outward. Look at any kaboom of a firearm that is known to have been caused by overpressure and you will see that the chamber and barrel are bulged.
Here the chamber and case are not bulged, this case failed at the end. Therefore the case had to have been weak at the end. Was it pre-cracked or loaded too many times? I suppose it's possible, but I don't know for sure. But it is clear that it was a case failure, and had nothing to do with primers or double charges or bullet setback causing pressure spikes.
