What happens if a gun can't be imported

just wondering what happens to a antique gun if for whatever reason customs
wont allow you to import it.do they send it back to the seller or do they
keep and destroy it?

They would have no right to keep and destroy it. It would be returned. If it is indeed an antique by our standards I believe you could appeal their decision. The thing to do is to get an approval from CFC before importing and attach a copy of the letter from CFC to the package. If not an antique it can still be imported but requires much more paperwork. Best way to avoid this type of assles, is to have the gun verified by CFR prior to buy. If it qualify as an Antique here in Canada, they will provide you a letter confirming its antique status , and all you have to do is send a copy of this letter for the seller to insert in the box with the revolver. Once it arrives in customs, they will see the letter and usually they dont ask furter questions. If they need to questions they have a phone number on the letter they can check with the Firearm analyst who confirmed the antique status and issued the letter.
