How should a spouse of a deceased prohibited license holder proceed as far as what to do with the prohibited guns if they only hold a restricted class license themselves? Tia.

I believe businesses can still buy handguns, or they could store them for you until the time we get a sensible government in Ottawa, so that may be the only options short of having then disposed of.
Mind you, I do know of some businesses that have bought large numbers of handguns and have them in storage waiting for the day, which means they have a lot of money tied up, so I suspect not all stores can or will buy any more guns.

An Executor of a Will can possess the firearms, even without a licence, as part of their duty under the law, and has to dispose of them in “a reasonable time”. No Court, governing body, etc has ever defined what a “reasonable time” is.
It may take a LONG time for an Executor to find an appropriate resource to transfer or otherwise “dispose” of said firearms.

That's correct. I can't imagine at any point in the future that any government will start issuing prohibited licenses though. I'm not sure I'd want them around at all, just an excuse for the RCMP to come and wrongfully seize the legal restricted handguns as well which the spouse is licensed for.
If the spouse is the executer , she/ he can keep them , locked up, till the estate is settled or the law changes, could hang on to them for years , as long as no one phones the police and askes this question.
12-6 guns could be sold to other 12-6 owners, so maybe in the future, they could be sold out of the estate, don't hold your breath.
Most dealer will not want to mess with 12-6 unless they are quite collectable, ie Luger,

The above information on the executor is correct. Another option, once the estate is settled, is to send them to an on line auction. The auction houses can take possession for sale to authorized businesses, and also for export to the U.S..
Sad that this is the way the laws are, but at least the estate may get something out of them instead of handing them in for destruction.

Licenses, may be not, but the Conservatives when elected with a full majority, will implement the Simplified Classification System, according to which prohibited firearms will be those which are either fully automatic or "firearms that are adapted from a rifle or shotgun, whether by sawing, cutting, or any other alteration, and that, as so adapted, are less than 660 mm in length". That's it. No prohibited handguns anymore.
A future govt does not need to issue prohibited licenses. A future govt just needs to turn off all the idiotic OICs and all the prohibited classes will disappear.
If you do not stand up for your rights, they will be taken from you. An executor is perfectly legally allowed to possess all manner of prohibited firearms. The police only try stupid stuff with people who don't know their rights and won't stand up for themselves. Also the police don't really need a valid excuse to come and seize all your firearms. Maybe firearm ownership isn't for you?
