What happens to prohibited 12.6 guns after license holder passes?

12.6 is a great example of what happens when you don't fight for your property rights.

That will be the leftist direction until the end of time unless enough people take a stand.

How should a spouse of a deceased prohibited license holder proceed as far as what to do with the prohibited guns if they only hold a restricted class license themselves? Tia.

Shes the executor right ?

Then stalled everything and wait for the next Conservative government.

Then sell them on this forum.

It's the only logical option !

.

12-6 exists because Conservatives supported the Liberals prohibition of handguns with barrels shorter than 4.2", as well as .23 and .32 caliber handguns. So I wouldn't be too hopeful of ever being able to buy handguns in Canada again.
Sorry, but when the 12/x categories were created under Bill C-68 the PROGRESSIVE Conservatives were a party distinct from the Reform Party led by Preston Manning (which later became the Canadian Alliance and subsequently the Conservative Party of Canada). And I don't recall the Reform Party supporting Bill C-68. Some of them like Garry Breitkreuz were stridently opposed to it. In fact, so were some NDP MPs and something like 8 Liberal MPs. And after the great wipeout in the 1993 election there were only two Progressive Conservative MPs left in parliament when C-68 was introduced so they were a non-factor.

An Executor of a Will can possess the firearms, even without a licence, as part of their duty under the law, and has to dispose of them in “a reasonable time”. No Court, governing body, etc has ever defined what a “reasonable time” is.
It may take a LONG time for an Executor to find an appropriate resource to transfer or otherwise “dispose” of said firearms.
I am assuming the spouse os the Executor/Executrix?

This pretty much nails it.

A future govt does not need to issue prohibited licenses. A future govt just needs to turn off all the idiotic OICs and all the prohibited classes will disappear.

If you do not stand up for your rights, they will be taken from you. An executor is perfectly legally allowed to possess all manner of prohibited firearms. The police only try stupid stuff with people who don't know their rights and won't stand up for themselves. Also the police don't really need a valid excuse to come and seize all your firearms. Maybe firearm ownership isn't for you?

They did that some 25 years ago .... but let's keep beating them over the head with that dead horse, because if we ever let politicians grow and change their opinion the world would probably end.

You must like your current Blackface administration then ... because a vote for any party other than the CPC is a vote for Blackface. Max does not have a hope in hell of winning a single seat and every vote that goes to him is a wasted voted that could help get rid of Blackface. You can hold your breath till you turn blue and these facts will not change.

Easy tiger. Cowboy position considering it isn't you in the situation. Maybe keyboard commando is your thing eh? If you think you have more power than your vote, you are sadly mistaken there chief. Have a nice day.

Send them to auction if you need money now - some foreign buyers, parts buyers, deactivation buyers out there. Some even betting that the laws will change and paying businesses to buy on their behalf and store.
If in no rush to settle the estate - hold.

Keyboard commando? I took the federal govt to court back in the 12.6 days. I have literally put my money in the fight and stood up for all our rights.

Thanks! Good work.

Some of the court cases between January of 1998 and December of 2002 resulted in Bill C10 - an attempt to repair the Firearms act 12(6) prohibitions and unreasonable restrictions.
Jean Chretien and Alan Rock pushed the committee do reduce Bill C10 by half and the result that came back to Parliament and was accepted and passed was Bill C10A - where the 12(6) repairs were removed from Bill C10.
The section 74 appeal i put forward resulted in changes to C10A regarding A.T.T.s The C.F.O. folded prior to a hearing before a judge and issued a document that reconciled with the law but not with the charter...

mad max, 2008 paper problems, and not one seat for the PPC. even the greens have seat.
He's a con artist who has found a cushy $100k+ a year job flying around the country promising stuff he can't deliver on the dime of people who think he's in it for them when he's really in it for himself. And don't think he'll help gun owners either. When he ran for the leadership of the CPC he was all for retaining the 12x classes.

Licenses, may be not, but the Conservatives when elected with a full majority, will implement the Simplified Classification System, according to which prohibited firearms will be those which are either fully automatic or "firearms that are adapted from a rifle or shotgun, whether by sawing, cutting, or any other alteration, and that, as so adapted, are less than 660 mm in length". That's it. No prohibited handguns anymore.

Under the simplified classification system all guns are prohibited because the clowns who wrote it dont understand basic sentence structure.

The Cons talk a good game but when the rubber hits the road they dont have much of a better clue about our gun laws than liberals do.

...A tragic canoe accident.

It is a criminal code offense to fail to report a lost or stolen firearm to either the C.F.O. or the Police.
There are an incredible number of "Catch 22" opportunities for criminal charges for firearms act infractions with no victim.
