what happens when you mix up .45 and 10MM

Good to know, I'll be extra careful to check the rounds in the magazine I load into a 1911.

It was fired in a 45cal gun, I've done it in purpose with 9mm and 40cal in a 45 1911, although I couldn't get the 9mm to go off. Nothing bad will happen as there is no chance for pressure to build.

And 9mm 1911 mags are the same magazine accept it has 2 ribs in the mags to keep the 9mmnrounds centered in the mag.

Here is a 38 Special shot in a 45

seriously? what people just toss all their ammo in a bucket and head off to the range...pay attention ffs, you just never know what moron is in the stall right beside you and possibly your kids

Bore obstructions are bad. Careless shooters are the cause of almost 100% of accidents. Don't get too confident and be careless - it's not a toy.

I stopped doing flinch drills with revolvers, where I only loaded 3 random chambers, after a bad batch of 9mm reloads gave me chronic squibs until I sorted the problem.

Even though a squib is obvious to me, because I hear a pop and see the smoke leaking out of the breech. I would NEVER "tap rack bang" a pistol that had misfired in some way, or a revolver that had skipped a beat. Mag/cylinder gets dumped, gun gets cleared, and for good measure the squib rod gets sent down the barrel to prove clear.

Which is why I don't shoot next ti strangers.

I think the lesson to be learned is that we must be careful, I came very close to firing a second round into a bullet stuck in the barrel due to a squib that felt and sounded like a misfire. (revolver)

I was shooting rapid fire and did not stop in time. The 45ACP barrel looked much like the on in the OP.

We found that the best way to push the gun open was using a vice.

i've noticed all my squibs in time except for 1 in my 1911 because the shell ejected, i was doing rapidish fire and there was 98 shots on the paper.

I very nearly did the same at an IPSC practice night with my 1911. Squib load pushed the bullet into the barrel, but not far enough for the next round to chamber. With the clock running, I just thought the first round was a dud, and tried to load another. That round didn't chamber, neither did the next, so I reloaded the gun and after the first round of the next mag did the same, it finally twigged that something was wrong. It's amazingly easy to do something like that when the clock is running and you are focused on clearing what you think is just a simple jam. Be careful out there.

The indoor range in Thunder Bay still has embedded cylinder shrapnel in its left AND right walls from a full blown revolver explosion!
It never scared me to be around strangers shooting their guns before but now I get a little uneasy.
