w:h: Just picked up an 8 twist .223 Varmint Stainless. Been thinkning about a fast twist gun for a while and finally found the right deal.

OK, I will get some pics.

As for loads, the 8 twist leaves a lot of options. First on my list will be the following for 2 reasons. 1. I currently have the bullets/powder 2. Looking for a light varmint load first and a nice long ranger.

First 3 loads will be 50gr NOS BT, 65gr Sierra GK and 75gr AMAX. I had a chance to try the 50gr and 65gr bullets at 25 yards when looking at the gun. both showed promise. I can't wait to throw the long darts out of it. If I went to a palm reader she might say, "what the hell is that on your palm" and then she might say " I see Bergers in your future".

Either way, I am excited as I love my old Remmy 700 and have yet to see a factory gun shoot like it does, but with th 12 twist and wanting to shoot some 800 yard stuff, it was very limiting.

Congrats on the new " Tikka Plinka"..I have the same one. It's amazing!! I started out with the 69 gr Lapua Scenars and 24 gr of AA2230..WSR primers for all so far..got it down to one ragged hole @100yds..(within the magazine length too)...switched up to the 80 gr A-Maxes and 24.2 of Varget....got sub MOA @ 200...so far...but I haven't had a chance to get any further...YET ;) ;)...I can't even begin to tell you how much fun this gun is to shoot...it's scary accurate...my 13 yr old daughter can consistantly hit walnuts @ 100 yds...old 12 ga hulls...pieces of clays...like..she loves it and it seems to make her want to shoot better and the gun certainly allows her to!!
The only thing I can complain about is single feeding of too long bullets(A-Maxes)...course..I went straight to the long ones and never dallied at the max mag length.....hmmmm....something else to do this winter...:D :D
Methinks you're gonna LOOOOOOVE it!!...Best of luck!

I have exactely the same gun & love it.
I thought those "long darts" would be great to, but was sadly mistaken when loaded to appropiate length none would fit in the mag:(
I then loaded some 55gnSP Sierra's with 335 & have a couple 1/8" 3 shot groups from a sporter weight barrel :sok2 Most average 3/8"-1/2"!
I really don't care about those long bullets anymore, this thing shoots better than any Varmint rig I've had in the past, including one Sako 22-250V.
