I know its a TO3-12 made in the ussr 22 cal target

have never seen anything like the rear sight mount
and cant find anything on the ee or www. to show me what was there,
any ideas

or do i just drill and tap it for a scope ... bore looks like it is clean and shiney out side is spotty with rust ...but nothing that cant be cleaned up

 
It was given to me with 5 other fire arms ...so no money spent ...and I have all the parts and pieces to drill and mount a scope..So no money spent there either ...just wanted to know before I do that.... from what I have read on the net they are quite accurate and will make a good plinker for the kids
 
just googled toz 12 ....first thing i got was to3 = toz its not a 3 its a z there you go ...lol

and this pic ... thats the sight i need ...any sugestions where to find it ..

my stock is as nice as that one ...must have been stored in a damp location a bit of spotty surface rust on the steel ...nothing that wont come off with steel wool
 
Those are the pics...that is your rifle. Certainly worth a dime if you can find the sights too!

Start with a good 'ol EE ad, scour other sites for sights, shows. I would put a touch of effort in finding the proper sight before D&T...a scope won't hinder it. This "class" of .22 can be a plinker for kids, but also a single-hole maker in the right hands too (lol..not mine)
 
I've had a couple of TOZ 22's over the years, and they were absolute tackdrivers. I still have a Winchester Wildcat Target model (TOZ-made) that is the equal of my CZ bolt 22's. These guns are shooters.

I think it will be much cheaper and easier to cobble together some sort of scope mount for this gun, as opposed to playing with a rear sight. It'll get you up and shooting quickly, you can easily assess the qualities of the gun as a shooter, and you can take your time looking around for the rear sight you need. You can always remove the scope base later and plug the screw holes when you add an iron sight. Just a thought...

JJohnwm i was thinking that but did not want to drill it till i found out what it was, and yes if i could find the sights it would be easy enough to plug the holes .....

well after takeing a few days to clean things up this is what i now have

A real nice birch stock and deep blue steel

Now all i need to do is find some thing for sights ...i know what the originals look like ..its just a matter of finding someone who knows where to find them .......
 
pshaw...something like that now is only worth 150/ton in steel, the wood is kndling. Better send the works to me!

PLEASE LAUGH! You have yourself a not only fine shooter, but it shore is purty now too! If you do scope it, you won't be disappointed. As fuddy as I am, finding a rear sight will be a chore. As I stated a few posts ago, it's worth a dime finding the sights. If you have the means to scope it for free, open sights might be worth waiting for, and plugging holes later. Honestly, you shouldn't "safe" a potential shooter like this.
 
Wow, that thing cleaned up nice!

Is it just the pic or has the barrel been cut? No biggie, just something to check.
 
the barrel doesn't appear to be cut down its flush with the front sight ramp





Camster ...I thought i had a round bottom base ...but it must have gotten used ...so when i pick one up i will scope it and see how it shoots ...
