What have you found in the woods

Peace & quiet

That is a rare find indeed - especially if you live anywhere near a city:(:(

While following some bear tracks down a cut line, I came to a creek with a bunch of tracks. I decided to sit down, take a break and examine the tracks. After a minute I looked to my left and saw what looked like a shrunken down brain bug from starship troopers. On one end was a bright red spike about 1/4" long and on the other was a mouth full of teeth. I poked it with a stick which it promptly attacked.

I got the hell outta there.

I still haven't been able to identify the creepy thing. Must be a space bug.

Love arancio's photo too, you should add that to the sticky at the top of this forum, hunting pics without the kill.

Neatest things I've found hunting are an old rolling block Remington with a bent barrel and no wood, a Cooey .22 with a broken stock, iron smelting refuse from centuries ago in Africa, cave paintings in Africa (looked like Impala, very faded) and pottery shards from the same cave.

Few years back my buddy and I found two old sports cars (Mustangs I believe) buried up to their roofs out on some property we were cutting through. We dug down to the windshield which was shattered in and he was halfway into it before he came out yelling "Snakes!"

Wish I would have had a camera on me at the time, might venture back there someday.

I found a complete diamond drill rig in the Labrador Trough. I suspect the company left it there as the demob cost was greater than its value. Fortunately the exploration industry no longer does crap like this.

Well let's see.....found a couple of weather balloon instruments packs over the years....both were American.

Several years ago while scouting beaver ponds for trapping season I looked down in a muddy backwater and saw a rusty length of chain....I pulled it up and low and behold there was a bear trap on the other end. Found out later that it was a very old homemade version, although very well put together.

Was way up on Whitney Pond one duck season and was walking the shore one afternoon and found a silver cigarette case half buried in the sand.....the top half slid over the bottom half and a little brass slider would allow a cigarette to be shaken out. It was pretty old and had nice oaks leaves engraved on it. It shined up really nice.
