What have you guys done to make your SKS a better shooter?

Also I have found that many a Rifle Range Light fixture has a fine collection of SKS brass on top. :D
 
I mentioned on one of the other threads before I saw this one, that bullet diameter is important for accuracy. Slug your bore and you'll see it may be a bit more than the bullet diameter you're currently using. I've seen them range from .310 to .313. Reloading companies tell us to use .308. I bet the SKS manufactures don't have accuracy in mind either. Oversize bores mean less heat, copper fouling, longer barrel life, easier cleaning etc. Accuracy was not a priority. You can take it from there. Glass bedding should cut your groups in half or better. Also try "Tetra" fluoropolymer on your bore. It's good for a thousand or so shots. I've done about 20 rifles and they've demonstrated the manufacturers claim of cutting groups by 20%.

B) Learned how to use and adjust the Iron sights.
C) Used better surplus ammo.
D) Never mounted a receiver cover Scope mount.

* For right handed shooter...Right elbow held up, and level to the horizon, which forms a nice shoulder pocket as some trap shooters call it.

Left Elbow close to the body, and directly under the Magazine.
Almost every pic I see of people shooting them are using the WRONG stance.
And then they blame the rifle for the accuracy problems. :rolleyes:

That seems like an lot of work for me. I was sure there had to be an easier way without all the work and practice and concentration. So I said to myself "how could I improve on the above target?" See the results below.

Got my SKS Yugo M-59 out for a shoot the other day and it seemed to do pretty well. I think most of the error was the person shooting it haha. Id like to improve my shooting.. anyone got any Sujested reading they can PM me to help?

Sorry, didnt mean to get off track.

Personally I was quite satisfied with my SKS. I laughed about myself not being accurate when I shot out the nail that was holding the target up. not quite what people mean when they say "nail driver" when you do it by accident.
