Hi all. So My Mark 2 is now home and I am going to scope it, possibly sooner than later. Anyways, does anyone here happen to know what height of rings would be needed to install a scope, yet keep the factory rear sight installed? Got the Weaver bases already installed, just want to get the correct rings. Thank you.

All depends on how big your optics are. For example with factory bases and high mounts my bushnell banner 4-12 with flip up cover wasnt high enough to clear the back sight but just fit on the rifle. I installed a flip up sight which sits just in front of the scope.

I have the Mark II F and originally had medium rings, but because of the placing of the rear sights and the larger front diameter of the scope (I have a 32mm) I was unable to position the scope far enough back to get a good sight picture (the skinny park of the scope clears the sight, but not the wide front). I ended up using the high weaver quad rings and they work no problem. Had to get a cheek riser though. The Mark II G might not need the riser, I think the cheek comb is already raised a bit on the G?
So essentially the medium rings can work, but I would recommend at least the high ones. Especially if you're gonna put a big scope on there at some point.
