I was originally looking for a Henry 22 frontier octagon barrel model. They seem to be sold out everywhere right now. I see cabelas.ca has the Goldenboy in sale for $439 and free shipping. For only $20 more than list price of the frontier model is it worth it? There are no local shops around me with either in stock so I dont have the chance to shoulder one before buying. Only worry I have about the Goldenboy is the lower comb on the stock, is it uncomfortable or awkward for some shooters?

Personally, the H001 regular model is best, the octagon barrel I find very front heavy and the golden boy brass reciever is also very heavy. I like my plainH001 simply because it's nice and light for birds or plinking.

My favorite version is the Frontier, but I have no problem comfortably shooting the GB... they are nice guns... $439 shipped is a good price.

I agree with the above, bro has octagon barrel I do find it heavy. Def like the look tho.
I ended up with H001 with large loop. I don't have large hands but do like to wear gloves when looking for rabbits in the winter.

I have a H001, but I wanted a frontier and still do... The golden boy does shoulder differently, but feels just fine to me as well... I wonder how the plating holds up on those if it is a gun you will use a lot. Has anyone had trouble there?.. On my H001 the black side/top cover hasn't worn at all but the bottom of the reciever is starting to shed it's finish... several thousand rounds, mind you... Fun rifles, all of them

I have the Frontier, and yes it's heavy. It also has metal sights, as opposed to the plastic front sight/barrel band some of the other models seem to have. I like it.

Frontier in .22WMR. Nice heavy barrel for rapid firing. Smooth as silk action. I just scoped mine and it shoots <1moa at 50m. Great gopher gun!

Thanks for link to the frontier at North Pro. Now $419 plus shipping or $439 free shipping for gun worth more??
Hmmm.
I thought about the standard model but I'm not a fan of plastic sights on any gun. Would be a mandatory uprgade for me. Might as well spend extra up front for better sights.

I don't recall the sight being plastic on the standard model...but I could be wrong. I actually liked the sights on the standard model better than the goldenboy's sights. Can't remember what the difference is but I could see the sights better on the standard model. Thinking about replacing the rear sight on the goldenboy.
The octagon barrel models are kinda front heavy.
For me the best model would be whatever one had a non painted receiver that you could scope, standard barrel and standard sights.

Well I ended up with a H001L model. Round barrel carbine version. haven't shot it yet but I'm impressed with the build quality and feel. Cycles very nicely.

You will love your Henry.... they are a joy to shoot... the one I posted above is now wearing a Leupold VX-2 2-7X33 instead of the Skinner peep... my eyesight has just deteriorated too much... scopes for me from now on.
