What hunting boot to buy ??

This should have been a "pole" question. By the sounds of things I think I will try some Irish Setters or some Danners and see which one fits the best.

Yes I already know Meindels are about as best as they come. My buddy uses a pair a year up in Bella Coola, but they are a ton of money as well.

Thanks

Jacky

I swear by my Chameau leather-lined rubber boots....but in this part of the
( rolling hills-to-wetlands) country, the sharpest rocks we get to see are in your glass back at camp at the end of the day !

If I were heading to hunt out in the big rocks, I'd certainly want to rely on the experiance of what a sheep outfitter might recommend

Another vote for Irish Setters.

I used mine (Elk Trackers) for deer hunting in New Brunswick and Alberta this fall and they kept my feet warm and dry, even in extreme cold while sitting (-26 C before windchill:eek: ). The Elk Trackers have an all-leather upper which allows you to grease 'em up to give a second layer of waterproofing.

I pounded em, slogged em in mud, rocks and dirt, and they still look great and feel comfortable. The deep lug air bob sole works really well when climbing or in slippery terrain, and I did not have problems with the sole becoming clogged.

You better be right! I am breaking in my Elk Tracker now by walking around the block a few times a week.

My Danner Fort Lewis is comfortable but can’t keep me warm in a stand. The Elk Tracker is a good backup and should perform well in rough country and mud….

Info

i had the same dilemma. I ordered the Irish Setter Big Game Trackers from bass pro, they will do the job indeed.

My 2.5 year old Zamberlans have been great, best boots I've had. I had a pair of Technica mountaineering boots that were nice too, probably to much boot for most guys hunting though.

As much as I love the Zamberlans my next boots will be Meindls, to many guys I know swear by them. Hard to beat the Zamberlans for the money, IMO.
