what is a AR-15

a few years back I remember hunting with one
At one time it was possible, but unfortunately the AR15 family of rifles were re-classified as "Restricted" by the Jean Cretein liberals (I'm pretty sure it was them). So, since you can't hunt with restricted firearms, the only place you can use them is at a range which is approved by the governmet for use of restricted rifles. Most ranges are approved, but you should still ask to make sure.

Okay, metoe. I'm a firm believer that there's no such thing as a "stupid" question. I'll try to give you the basics.

Good on you w squared!

Nothing like belittling a relative new guy....sheesh.

Are some of you trying to drive people away from shooting?

As GunNutz aren't we supposed to try and be welcoming and supportive of people who want to info and to get involved?

Someone once told me: EVEYONE had to learn it sometime, even the experts.

Seriously guys.....

I will keep it on-topic by pointing out that the AR-15 is also widely available in 9x19mm, and also may be found in 6.8 SPC, 7.62x39, 45 ACP and several other calibres, but all have been restricted since 1992. I once went groundhog hunting around Lindsay, ON with a Colt AR15-A2 Sporter, but those days are long gone.

Very true, battle rifle. I didn't think to say that they are "usually" chambered for 5.56. :)
