What is a Bullet Head

There's that sausage casing again!
Once again, using slang like brass as a technical term.
Lots of fun stirring the mud, eh?

"Brass" is not slang, it is a clearly understood and adopted term utilized by handloaders... reloaders refer to brass all the time regarding bulk lots and it is understood that way... when do you ever hear a reloader talk about how many "cartridge cases" they have in their bins...

Do we say;

"I picked up a new 7X57 rifle, I already have the dies and lots of cartridge cases."

Or

I picked up a new 7X57 rifle, I already have the dies and lots of brass."

Nobody is going to call you out using "brass" in that context. Language is fluid and new terminology is legitimized every year by all of the reputable language repositories. I think we can let "brass" slide... but not "bullet head."

I bought a box of bullets at CTire the other day. The girl at the till wanted to see my PAL. I said these are bullets, not ammunition, you don't need my PAL. She said she needed to see a PAL for all bullets. "No, you need a PAL for ammunition, not bullets." It rapidly devolved into a Monty Python skit as she got madder and madder, insisting that bullets were ammunition and ammuniton was bullets. The gun counter guy showed up and tried to explain to her that a PAL was not needed to buy reloading supplies but she wouldn't budge. I gave up and showed her my PAL.

The guys at the local CanTire gun counter, won’t budge on the PAL needs to be seen, for dies, shell holder, or even a replacement magazine.
Then you get to the checkout and the cashier needs to see it again.
I’ve tried explaining it to them, but they won’t listen.

Oh man, some of you guys crack me up.. all anal retentive n ####. If you don't know the jargon, ask questions until you do. Sounding like you don't know what you're talking about is far less detrimental than doing what you don't know how to do.
