What is a fair asking price for this sporterized SHT LE III Enfield 1918 dated?

I don't know anything about these rifles ---it does not fit in with my collection.

I have fired this rifle but I have no idea of the bore condition.

They generally go for $150 to 200. I still find them at gun shows for under 150.

Part of the safety looks welded? If that's replaceable and the rest is unmolested it might be a restoration candidate? I certainly wouldn't spend $200 on it, maybe 150 w/mag. But I'm not in the market for one either, I have a no1 and it was only $110 (although mine has some ugly Dremel work on the receiver in one spot).

Plus is that it has Cdn. property marks, good if it is to be restored.
Restoration is expensive.
The safety spring can be easily replaced.
How is the bore?

I believe that it has a correct mag.
'"Jack'' name engraved on the barrel.
How would you describe this rifle to put it up for sale on EE?

If i was selling it on the ee i would just put

" sporter lee enfield no1 mk3 matching bolt, no mag, name ingraved on barrel. Canadian marked" and add a few pics.

$100 with no mag in my opinion, and that is if the bore is acceptable. There a number of issues identified against it and only the C/|\ mark in its favour.

Pretty standard restoration candidate SMLE, worth up to $200 tops. Sporters are common, so price it to sell - otherwise anyone looking for one be it for a restoration project, or just to shoot will just get a different one.

IMHO, from your pics, without a magazine, $75. With the proper magazine $125.

IMHO, if anyone is looking for a rifle to return to its original condition there are other candidates out there much cheaper and more suitable for the purpose.

IMHO the Canadian mark doesn't cover up the negatives at all.

At best, it's a shooter grade only sporting rifle and will likely do that job just fine.

Anything else would be trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

I am pretty sure it has a proper mag.
I was given this rifle back in the 1970's by my uncle.
It was found on the roof of a shopping center where my uncle's company had an office.
The last two photos---- to add a personal touch.

I guess Jack or RM owned this rifle at one point in the past.

Without the engraved name, welded safety link and miscellaneous drill holes I would have valued at $150-$200. With all those little bugaboos I wouldn't pay more than $100. Just my opinion (I have one same year and sporterized).

Barrel is a replacement but C^ also marked on the receiver. Irrelevant as the carved in name and initials kill any value. Honestly I think the OP would do better parting it out.
