What is a good 1-4x scope?

I was thinking of buying a Dlask 10/22 and was wondering what would be a good 1-4x scope for it (without breaking the bank). Something with an illuminated reticle would be OK.

How big is your bank.

I put an $800 scope on a Savage Axis and don't consider that "over done" - the accuracy of the rifle and it's intended use warrants good glass.

Case in point - a Burris MTAC 1-4X24 Fastfire (lighted) is an awesome scope but goes for over 1100 bucks

Weaver Kaspa 1-4x24 (if you can find one in Canada) goes for about 200 bucks (just haven't been able to personally source Weaver scopes for a while now)

Barska 1-4X28 IR would look "cool" on a 10/22 and comes in at about $130

Last one I have any listing for (that's close to your 1-4) is a 1.5-4.5X32 (but not lighted) Marksman Hunter from Scorpion (a Canadian company that sources their scopes from China - like most rimfire scopes) - comes in right at 100 bucks and ships from the company for $12 (flat rate anywhere in Canada).

y'know back in the old days a 22 CAME with a 4x22 BUSHNELL scope- it was 1 step above the tasco airgun scope, and it had a funny claw mount- there's like THOUSANDS of those around, most without the claw mount- but they've accounted for thousands of gophers and other small game- so don't get too big an ocular and HAVE FUN

KDX, Great topic.

I'm also interested. Here's my ideal checklist:

  • No objective bell (24mm or 30mm only)
  • Fine Crosshairs
  • 1-4 or 1-6
  • Illuminated dot/ reticle
  • Parallax setting at 50/60yards
  • (Optional) rimfire BDC reticle

Until I see a scope like this, I'm sticking with the Bushnell TRS25

Just going through the same thought/issues herelooking for glass on a new 22. I have a Millet DMR, Vortex Strike Eagle, and a Hi-Lux CMR on some of the ARs. I think I'm going to purchase another Hi-Lux after looking through them all.

Just buy a cheap one, like the one on sale at cabelas right now, the barska with mount, for like $200 or something.
Dont need a quality scope for a .22, seriously, anyone who does is wasting it. You dont have to worry about shock, or clear glass, or high magnification for 50yards. Seriously, just buy a cheap one. It will hold zero, even my $60 ones do.
You will have farrrrrr better accuracy if you spend an extra dollar per box on your ammo. Buy quality .22 ammo like winchester power point. You will see.

You dont need a scope designed for magnums shooting 600 yards, imo.

I have a VXII on my Sako Quad 22. I don't necessarily like looking through cheap scopes.

My favorite is a Bushnell 4200, the glass is nice and it's 30 mm tube. Illuminated as well, I've seen them on sale at wholesale for 369. It's got the three heavy duplex and the top line is a thinner one all the way to the center. 1 moa dot I think.

you REALLY have to LOOK at what you're shooting- , a 22 , any 22 is a 50 yard rifle- the guys that really are gluttons for punishment zero for 100- but let's face it , about 95% of the shooters take gophers and whatnot at 50 yards or less- you don't need a scope with adjustable parallax and a 50mm ocular lens for that kind of shooting- I have a 18x 50 bushnell that's completely useless due to lack of elevation and the vibration from your body/breathing - my little 4x on my nylon 66 sees far more duty
