Well I decided to get the M&P 22. I appreciate everyones input but in the end it was the left handed friendliness of the smith and wesson that sold me. It is also such a new gun on the market it is hard to compete with people opinions of the tried a true Ruger MkIII and the browning buck mark, but sometimes you just gotta take a chance on the new guy.

I don't have a membership yet to a handgun club so I can't take possesion of it yet, but its paid for and waiting patiently at the gun store for me when I do. I'll post about it when I get it and get it to the range.

Thank agian for your imput. I will likely look at the ruger or the browning if I get a second pistol.

Can you really do that?

No unless you buy a light - laser combo

The ones I looked at were not and I was also told that the 1911 require more effort to clean so thats why I didn't go with them.

You did yourself a favour both of the above are very ammo sensitive. The M&P 22 not so much.

Take Care

Bob

I also ended up with a browning buckmark.

Not being familiar with the Buckmark, I just took a quick look at one on their website. Looks good!! A way back,;) before we went metric, when I first started into .22 target style shooting, one of the first half decent .22s I had was a Browning Challanger. It shot well as I remember but it went in for trade when :redface:I found something at the next step that I couldn't live without.

Now, getting back into a limited amount of structured 'paper punching' style shooting, one of my recent acquisitions has been a browning Medalist.

That's fancy looking. It looks similar but nicer than the smith and wesson 22A. I almost bought that but the grip was really big and it was a bit loose so I went back to the buckmark. The buckmark was also 100$ less than the rugers

Well, retired and with the time to 'play' being available plus the deals being 'decent' I went for four of the target .22s the gentleman was selling for his friends estate. the other three are;

A 5 1/2" S&W model 41

All are in 95 - 98% condition and being weak willed, I couldn't resist.
