What is a good entry level skeet gun

shot a Beretta O/U 12g today.. thing musta weighed 5 lbs.. it was GREAT for skeet this morning

i prefer O/U for skeet, but any long barrel pump is good too.. mossberg, perhaps

Having seen someone use an 80's 870 and win, may I suggest the secret to a great score is in the fitting? Find a shotgun you like and spend the money on getting it fitted to you by a Reputable smith.
Just a thought.

X2 especially the part about the 1100. I'd suggest the Beretta 391 Sporting as a first choice with the Browning Gold and Winchester SX tied for second.

A $1,000 is not an insignificant sum. But look at it another way. A round of skeet at our club is $4.00 and the cheapest shells are around $6.00 per box. At $10.00 per round, if you average just two rounds a week your annual cost is over $1,000. If you are going to spend that much on targets and shells why not get a decent gun to do it with? :)

which club do you shoot for 4.00--what is annual fee and what facilities do they have--thank you

There are a few clubs in our area that have prices around $4.00 for a round. A practice round at the Chase Fish & Game club is $3.50. The Salmon Arm club charges $3.50 a round for, at least it did when I practiced there this year. Kamloops club charges about $5.00 for a round of skeet or trap, but guests might pay more. I think the Vernon club is close to Kamloops. I know our club is just recovering the cost of the clay pigeons at $3.50, but we operate on a strictly volunteer basis, and our ranges are located on private land where the owner is a club member. I think the Salmon Arm club keeps their price where it is to encourage people to practice and to help new shooters a bit. I don't know how long this rosy picture will last though. It seems like prices always go up.

Broke down today and bought a Beretta 391 Urika II 12ga synthetic, 28” barrel with 5 Optima chokes and 3” chamber, just don't tell my wife. Sure hope this can help me hit the targets in skeet, haven't had much luck yet. BTW, anyone want to comment if this gun can also be used for trap?

Thanks

Will be just fine for trap, on my beretta s686 I use full choke on a 28 " barrel.
