What is a P38 nazi DUV handgun worth ? Two mags all original

Does it still have the dirty birds, or have they been peened?

A bringback (ie: still has the birds), commands a premium over the Russian Mixmaster refurbs (dirty birds peened out).

I've never seen any P38s sold here in Canada, including Russian refurbs with the eagles crossed out. Only saw K98k's. Do you have any pictures?

In decent shape and fires perfectly . Just wanted an idea on what it’s Worth

DUV never made P38s......can you provide more details....there’s ac(Walther), byf(Mauser) and cyq(Spreewerk).

PM me if you can email or text photos. I’ll tell you what you have. Gun with two mags, no holster will be $500-850 depending. Holster add $250

You haven’t been paying the slightest bit of attention then. P38s are common here.

I meant to say that I have never seen crossed out eagled P38's here.

Hmm, just assumed the RC's would have the Waffenamt stamp peened on it... TBH, I only have the 1 to look at closely, with no RC markings on it and numbers matching.

I suppose that would be the better way to phrase the question - Is it numbers matching, or numbers mismatched with the X ?

A lot of the RC are numbers matching. He needs to post photos.

Strangely Russian Capture P38s will often fetch higher prices than bring backs in better condition.

A lot of people confuse them with the P1 pistols with Aluminum frames.

Then there are the post war Manhurin Walther factor pistols which in some instances are made up of WWII parts. I have one of these. The frame has been renumbered and the slide has all other marks nicely removed and the Walther logo roll pressed in.

P38s have lots of variations

sorry i just checked its CYQ code my bad.

Do the two magazines have the E/88 stamp on he heel? That would make a difference. Only the Spreewerke P-38's came with those, and many were lost along the way. A pair of E/88 magazines with a Spreewerke (CYQ) pistol is very hard to find.

Spreewerke are at the low end of collectible P-38's by some, but still command a good price if an all matching gun. $750+... More if both mags are E/88 marked.

What's a vet bringback ac41 P38 worth that was taken by a British Commando at El Alamein in North Africa?

Depends if it was Rommel's or not.

Sorry Not Rommel’s. Taken off a KIA soldier.

What Brookwood is alluding to (humorously), is the old adage "buy the gun, not the story."

Unless there is outstanding documented provenance for the pistol, it's a bringback like any other. The individual tale of heroism attached to it is an interesting sidenote, but without the mentioned outstanding levels of documentation, it is a tale, and nothing more.

Provenance, vet, military records check out 100%.
Have had it over 25 years.

Now on to my question. I know the answer.

P38 ac41 rig complete.
