What is a partridge sight and what purpose does it serve?

Any advantages/disadvantages to getting one over the factory red ramp S&W sight?

Seems like these guns get real good reviews.... any input here on them? I ove my dad's race gun built on a 586, but wanted to get some input here. he also already has a reloading setup for 38sp so i would be set. dare I buy a second pistol within a week?

Thanks

Ramp sight.

Patridge sights give you a more consistent black front sight. The ramp sight can reflect sun light back to you with a variety of results (in the end making it harder to center the front between the back sight).

The ramp sight is designed for holster use. A patridge sight would have a greater tendency to snag.

The more the better. You can't have to many guns. But try to buy quality guns if your main interest is shooting.

CanuckShooter, the sight is a Patridge not Partridge. It is a target sight and I have one on my S&W M27. They are good sights but I was happy before I had one and I still am. Regards, Richard:D
