What is a S&W 27 worth?

Howdy,

I have been thinking of upgrading my S&W 28 to a 27, but I have little idea what one is worth. Anyone here have any ideas what one is worth from very good to excellent?
 
i was going to say the same as misfire, $600-$750 depending on condition and features..... the upper price for a 627, but $650 is more in line with a blued model.
 
A handgun is worth exactly what someone/you are willing to pay. What do I mean? I offered this M27-2 for sale on an American board for for $600 + S&H (US) and I had no takers. Regards, Richard:)

Okay, that was waht Iw as thinking, but I was not sure. I saw one for sale in excellent shape for $875 at a dealer (so tax and shipping) and thought it was pretty steep.
 
to me, it depends how old it is first. If it isn't pinned and recessed, I would not be interested in it. Certain barrel length's are worth more to some people, 5" as an example. In Canada, the 3.5 and 4 " barreled guns are worth less, being prohibited.

The older a 27 is in general, the more it is worth. 627's seem to be the opposite, the newer ones that are 7 or 8 shot and take moon clips seem to be in high demand.
 
There is a pre Model 27, that is, when the model first came out it was just called, "357 MAGNUM," on the EE now, for 750. Might be back a page or two.
 
I'm also curious how mine could worth, much less i presume since it's prohibited ;)

The 3 1/2" barrel makes it more desireable from a collector's point of view--my guess would be that the added value there would counteract the reduction from its prohib status.
 
Basing a value on a lack of bids from US sites isn't really a good indicator in my experience. I've noticed on many sites including fleabay that US bidders just won't bid on items that they know are located in Canada. As a result I usually expect to win on auctions for Canadian based items at prices around 1/2 of the typical going rate. Only if a couple or three Canadians get into a bidding frenzy will the price be driven up to the same or near to the US typical price.
