What is it about Black Rifles that scares people???

there is no question of what to do here....dont buy a tavor, buy a smurf special..... nice calming blue stock set, non restricted, and is definitly way cooler than the tavor. personally i think they are truly fugly! and wouldnt waste my money on it. that or just buy a new AR15 as she seems to be ok with them?!?

It is NOT the cost....that is not the main issue.

The issue is the look of the rifle. She finds it offensive...

Just play on her maternal side...

you know...

Then ask her what optic/sling/case/magazine would make it look better;)

Its just what we are used to in Canada. I remember flying into Rome in the early 90's and the airport cops were giving some guy a hard time. Both had MP5's and one was pointing it at the guy. It was hyper over animated, (per norm for italians). I thought it was major drug bust but in the end they let the guy go, I think he had bud the line. Having and pointing you MP5 at rude travelers, it turned out was just normal there.

Normal is what you see everyday.

A Swiss everyday event that would get you in jail here faster then you could say "do you take debit"?

United colors of...

It's just the color, man!
If they were all painted "blushing virgin pink" or "Village People Shocking Pink" they all would like having one, for sure...
anyway, that's what my mother told me, of course...
PP.

Because some Public Service clerk without any knowledge of firearms and who works in the Firearms Centre decided it looks evil so now everyone buys into the same belief.

Yeah, I share an apartment with two friends, they're pretty scared that I have handguns on the way.

I just tell them that they have no idea how fun shooting handguns are, and that we'll now be prepared for the zombiepocalypse.

As soon as I get back from work in the summer I'm taking all of my friends and family one at a time to expirience this awesomness. I think I can get at least 2-3 people to get thier RPALs. The rest will probably have a better opinion, and might think about it later down the road.

The answer is, as everyone else said in here, plain and simple - movies, tv shows, media.

An M16, AK-47, Tavor, Swiss Arms, etc. etc. anything which has a military like appearance evokes images in people of war and death and violence.

A nice wooden rifle without a pistol grip or big long magazine sticking out the bottom evokes images of some guy out in the country hunting deer.

It's no more complicated than that.

It would be interesting to see the reaction of some of the folks we're discussing, if they were presented with a photoshopped image of a pink, or baby blue Tavor. :)

A gun is a gun whether its black or not. They all shoot bullets, and in the wrong hands, they're all dangerous.

Besides I'd argue that grandpa's .303 british or 30-06 hunting rifle shooting soft point ammo capable of taking down a freakin moose is more dangerous than a little black rifle shooting .223 out of pinned mags.

Thanx to Questar...we have 10 round mags for our .223's.
