What is it about "Tactical" Shotguns?

I've noticed this before, but never really thought about it ......

So we have this new shotgun section in the EE, with a grand total of only three pages. A quick look through reveals that a very high portion of the guns in there are "tactical" and a very high percentage of those are either new or very much like new.

What do folks buy these for and why do they get sold so fast?

Here's a few of the guns on there now. (Remember there's only 3 pages)

Mine's the nicest one there... at the bottom!

It's only for sale for fiscal reasons. I bought it for IPSC style 3 gun matches; pistol, rifle, handgun.

Basically a range toy, though not restricted. It's also fun to make a goof of myself and try to shoot trap with it LOL

Also, what's wrong with a little SWAT/Special Ops fantasy from time to time? You DID play guns as a kid, didn't you? This would be the grown up version of that.

There's no such thing as a 'tactical' shotgun either. They get sold fast and often when it's discovered how useless most of them are.

More like when the buyer doesn't put in enough range time to learn how to use them properly.

I have no problem with mine, but I put in the range, and trap time. :D

My 12.5" Rem 870 is great fun!:D Use it all the time when we go shooting at the pits ect. Lots of fun for speed drills and water bottles ect and slugs always get first choice. Not for everyone but it does have the look cool factor too. Great fun for rookies looking for something that kicks;)

They look cool and are fun to shoot....Nothing wrong wiht that.

Here is mine:

I've killed plenty of grouse with it and it is handy to carry on backcountry trips if you are not hunting, as well. I shoot it and a 14" barrel shotgun at the trap range sometimes, it's fun.

Geez, I'm gonna get a complex... I've only got an old Rem 870 pump [2 3/4" shells only] with an 18 1/2" rifle site Express barrel and new Express wood on it.

No mag extension, no tactical black furniture... nothin'... :(

Just get a bayonet and a flashlight mounted on it and you'll be all set. :)

This is as close as I get to a "TACTICAL". :shotgun:

It's an older, discontinued, 870 Special Purpose that came with a syn stock and 26" bbl. I swapped the stock for a police walnut and bought another 20" IC bbl for that would be perfect for upland if the need be. The finish on the SP is alot nicer than that of an Express. With the 26" it is my main duck gun.

Ick, at least put a mag extension on it.

Some nice looking rigs there in your first post, and I think as with alot of things men like they sell on looks first, usability second. In my experience folks get them for the cool looks, then load them up and find out they are not as much fun to shoot as say a 223 or some other low recoiling rig. Then the 12 goes out the door.
They are fast sellers though, back in the day those cheesy 1300 defenders with the heat shield used to sell like hotcakes

#3 just sold....

But thanks for the free advertising!!!

I just traded a Wingmaster for 10 boxes of Tungsten Matrix for the 20 Gauge... I didn't want it and am doing whatever I can to avoid steel.
