What is it about these rimfires?

I just took a look in my safes, and realised something. Though I have a few centerfires, they vary greatly. I have one bolt action 30-06, one lever 30-30, one semi 30-06, one bolt action 223, etc. The only calibres and actions which are consistent are my milsurps. It's because I only need one bolt action 30-06, and have no desire for another. Then I looked at my rimfires. 7 different semi autos(3 of them 10/22's), 3 lever actions, 2 single shots and over a dozen bolt actions, and a pump. And these are just for .22LR! And still, I want more. I would love a 1712 Anschutz, CZ 452, Henry H0032, etc. And when I go to the gun shows, it seems to be that at least one rimfire follows me home. Do they put nicotine in these things? What is it that is so, addicting about these rimfires? Asides the fact they're fun and cheap to shoot.

I hear ya brother! :D

I have the same phenomina in my safe, I have 3-bolt action and 1-Lever in center fires, 3 shotguns and 8 pistols. In Rimfire I have 2-10/22's, 2-Savage bolts (.22 & .17), a gevarm E-1, a cooey 64B, a browning pump, a Henry Lever, a Buckmark Rifle and 2 Buckmark pistols...... I seem to come home with a new .22 every couple of months, I also sell off the ones I don't REALLY like...... That and the fact I only have room for 3 more firearms. When I fill up the space I have, my loving wife has informed me "YOU WILL NOT GET ANOTHER SAFE!!" I think she means it this time.....

I know rimefires are addictive, fun and cheap to shoot. I don't feel bad about it, I acccept and move on. I justify it in that the skills you use to shoot Rimfire also transfer over to Centrefire, So f I shoot well with good habits with my .22, I will shoot well with good habits with my 30-06 when I have a Jumper in my sites come hunting season.

Cheers!

I hear you on this one! This is my 5th.

I thought when I brought home the CZ452 leftie that would end the search but now I have a 64B, a BRNO CZ468 single shot trainer, and a Winnie 9422. That and 4 cfs and a couple of pump 12ga, including an engrave Browning BPS Trap model. And Im looking for a falling block now... Does it never end?

We should start a club. We could get cool t-shirts and maybe a secret hand shake. :) At some point I'll get a center fire but now I find myself drawn to rimfire. My wish list includes a lever gun, another 10/22, a Charger, a CZ 453 Varmint, and a Savage MARK II-BTVS (love that Accu Trigger). Not to mention .22 caliber conversions for my pistols. Oh, did I mention I just bought a Mark III Hunter......

I have one .22 and one .17 in rimfires. I stay under 10 rifles. If you have more than 10 you are concidered a collector and at any point they can come to your home unannonced to inspect your gun collection.

Hot can you stop at anything less then 5 rimfires? Look for yourselves: one bolt action with the scope bipod and detachable magazine for hunting. One semi with the scope. One single-shot and peeps ( a must). Now one cool black moddafokka ninja spetsnaz rifle in 22lr. And one collectors piece with fine wood and a history. Then throw in a few with heavy barrel and those that are still in perpetual state of repair.

I also like rimfire's... They are the best bang-per-buck!

As in, a new $600 22lr that fires 5,000 ($200) rounds in its first year only cost me 16cents a pop (guns and ammo)...

Considering that most centerfire (reloads) are at about 50 cents a pop (just for the ammo)... at every 1,200 fired with the 22lr, I have saved enough to buy another one $600 rifle... and the best part is, the more you shoot, the more you save!

:)
(That's my logic and I'm sticking to it)
