What is it called when one weapon is mounted to the underside of another weapon? eg.
m40 launcher to the underside of an m16 or an 12 ga. shotty to the underside of a rifle as in the movies "predator" and "aliens"

It's called butt loads of fun! Or if you want actual answer....

"Under-slung". As in, M16 with under-slung M203.

There may be other names for it, but that's one I've heard a few times.

There's also "under barrel", "weapon mounted", etc.

X2 - some also call the 12 guage undermount a master key:)

Yes....with limitations.

No explosive munitions allowed.

I've got a 37mm copy of the M-203 type launcher (underbarrel mounted on an AR-15) and fire 35mm film cannisters with it. (Near perfect fit!)

It'll drop a flour-filled weighted film cannister approximately 150 yards.

There are currently members here trying to figure out if mounting a 14" or 12" barrelled shotgun to an AR15 is legal. The issue here is that with no stock, the shotgun is below minimum length. It is being argued that the AR15 rifle counts as the stock, thus meeting the over all length requirement. I'm not sure how it is has gone.

Would this matter as the AR is restricted anyway? Or is it that the shotgun may be considerd a prohib?

i went throught this last year with the RCMP. it is ok to do. the rifle acts like the stock so as long as it all stay over 26 inches you're ok. but since the AR is still restricted, it becomes a range toy.

remember, a shotgun without a stock(AR) is still illegal on its own.
