what is it with people and HK

All this talk about HK made me want to go out and get a HK45.But Kevin B's
comment about the final product had me pile on the binders.
Mr.B can you advise on the issue.
 
Hk is a has-been company, like VW.

Older stuff was great (legendary, even), newer stuff.... made by too-many socialist-minded pansies who have to keep going out on strike when their Oktoberfest lederhosen aren't pressed properly by the company they work for. (IMHO)

I handled a G3 once - Felt great - Would have been nice to shoot a few rounds, but civilization might have collapsed, or something.

I hosed four mags through an MP5 down in Vegas a couple of years ago, and I can see that the version with the suppressor WOULD be an awesome home defence or skateboarder control item, if legal.

But again - These are the classics.

Numbers are what count.

And VW and HK are at the top.

Quality and quantity.

I'd say the new HK sucks balls. The old HK came out with new innovations and actually contributed to the firearms world. If you were a civilain, you could purchase thier guns.

Now, HK is mostly revising on old guns. Now don't get me wrong, their handguns are pretty good, but their rifles have taken a landslide. Of the new rifles that do come out, they basically run a formula. Step 1: Take a military/law enforcement firearm, and jack the price 25-50%. Step 2: Take anything to make the firearm look good, and toss it. Is it black? Now it's grey. Folding stock? Now it's a fixed thumbole. Reliable? Now the low grade plastic cracks just from dry firing.


And don't give me the whole "german law" BS. If HK was like any other normal firearms company, they'd move/open production in other countries if the laws became too restricted.

If I was military/law enforcement, I'd definately look at their product. They'd be reasonably priced, and reliable. That and you'd get first rate service from them. As a civilian, I'd only look into their handguns. But when I'm in that price range, why buy HK when you can buy Sig?

They'll be building guns in New Hampshire starting in the next year or so. That's the only way they can market the 416 to the American public. I wonder if they'll start producing the HK91 again.

I carry an SFW at work...that is what I am issued. Excellent weapon. Also, I have some muscle memory with the AR platform.

yeah I have not fired a select fire G36, only a semi. I suppose I shouldnt use the money argument as the pricing for LE or military is awhole lot different. :)

I 'd take an MP-5 or MP-10 in a heartbeat. I've never used any HK product but would sure like to. BTW , video games are played on a tv. How much fact can you find on the bastard anyway?:D

hmm so I suppose the only way to be sure..and to really know if its anygood or not..would be to shoot the TV with a MP5?:D:shotgun:

True, but lots of people like Norinco, too.

I don't necessarily believe that quantity of sales = quality of product.

My family members and I have owned three VWs, and they were each and every one rolling electrical nightmares (WHEN they started - Okay, one of them started all of the time, but you had to disconnect the battery to make it stop.) Norinco also has fallen foul of my three strikes rule, with each of the three Chicom guns I have owned or shot being absolute lemons. A $400 paperweight is still a $400 paperweight, and not a firearm.

And has H&K really made a lot of sales in the past decade? I don't know if anyone has access to recent data, but I am skeptical that maybe even Diemaco has sold more rifles than H&K?

H&K needs to pull their craniums out of the last two sphincters, and get with the little people again.

Purely my grumpy old opinion.

HK just equipped the entire german army, spanish army and potentially the Portuguese army with G36 and MG4. in addition, they have made licensed production/technology trasfer agreement with the Mexican for their G36 look alike. On top of that, now the Turkish is getting license for locally produced HK416, on top of 6500 HK416 for the Nowegian army. Obviously HK is making much more sales than Diemaco/colt Canada in any ways.

The US civilian market is big. Bushmaster alone makes more than 60,000 AR in a year ( 2005 figure I think, according to BATF statistics) In comparison, FN had made less than 20,000 FN P90 since it was available over 10 years ago. eVen small guys like armalite makes close to 10,000 ARs a year. Military sales to small military like Canada is not even close to the US civilian consumption.
