what is it with people and HK

I shot a full auto MP5 once, and honestly I could not shoot one f**kin mag without it jamming on me. Maybe this MP5 was poorly maintained or something, but I swear to god after like 10 rounds it would jam.

This is my only experience with anything made by HK, and it wasn't a good one...

WTF in COD4 it is soo good... whats going on? ;)

I was out yesterday with some friends who brought out their issue weapons(G3 and MP5) and got to fire a few mags full auto with both. Went through about 120rnds with the G3 and 90rnds with the MP5. Those things are also almost never cleaned and used and abused like the town pump. 0 problems. But we were shooting Norwegian Nato surplus and it's a little hotter than most other factory stuff. Perhaps your issues were ammo related. Or like you said, bad maintenance.

Regarding the original question at hand: "What is it with people and HK?"

Try it out a few times and if in the end you don't like it, look elsewhere.
But if you did buy one and it's a total POS, then you do have a right to complain since parts availability is an absolute #####. And if other things keep breaking and in general just keep phuking up (and is not the users fault), then by all means ##### away at the brand.
If you like it, then abuse the living shiit out of it, and then keep shooting it some more. (the same goes for other "brands" as well)

So when is this thread going to get locked?
I ask this since it's getting quite personal on both parties (mods and members)
But I agree with Kevin as he's been there and is still doing it.......'nuff said.

Why should it get locked? This little bit of heat is towards people who have very little expertise and yet attempt to slag the entire purpose and people of this board (fun with firearms). If someone is going to make an all encompassing statement regarding certain firearms and their owners, you better be able to back it up with knowledgable facts. Or be prepared to accept the comments received.

The thread didn't get locked when the originator and others were stating their opinion of HK and the owners, so the owners/operators should get their say too.

.

The main issue is the "you run what you brung". While 9mm may be good for inside a small house -- if your tgt goes outside - you little subgun is not longer a very practical weapon. The 5.56mm carbine is the one stop shopping answer for this.

5.56mm Subsonic --- DONT.

I know the 5.56 subsonic does not function properly ,I know this first hand although extremely quite the bullet has No velocity a 22 Long Rifle has more range,Higher Velocity and better reliability than the 5.56 sub can.We had to use a cleaning rod to dislodge the 5.56 subsonic bullet that became lodged in the barrel due to faulty ammunition
As far as the HK firearms platform goes it is with out a doubt the best engineered design firearms on the market today. I have fired a few HK products in my time HK 416,G3,G33,G36,MP5,MP5 SD,Hk 91,HK 93,HK 94,USP P7M8/M13 and the SL8. From first hand experience they are a very well designed for the user to operate dis assemble and have great reliabity rate . I was Vegas 3yrs ago and shoot a MP5 that had over 250,000 rnds thru it still delivered very accurate fire and had no reliability issues. These are just my observations

They are a gun company,..they make guns. They do not make guns they intend to use for hunting ducks,..or .22 for hunting rabbits,.(not a bad thing though),..they make guns that work,..under horrible conditions. They make guns you could use for competition,..going to war,..LE,...or carrying if you are allowed to (or choose to). They are reliable. Yes they CAN be more expensive,..but it depends on what you are willing to spend. Those that own then and appreciate them outside of Playstation know what I am talking about.

LOL,..I was actually looking up info on the P7 type,..thinking about getting one down the road as collectors item when I came across this old thread,...and in my drunken state,.I decided to give my drunken opinion:D

I fed defensive rounds like the Cor-Bon DPX .45 through my UMP without a single issue. Ever.

If it was less rare I'd have kept the one and bought a spare.

You're right about people who whinging about the price.

There are alot of good weapons out there but a few always rise to the top.

HK is one of those companies that puts engineering and thought into their products.
The result is outstanding performance. For those who have been issued Hk weapons and used them operationally there is a high level of trust. They have the ability to go bang more reliably than almost any other brand.

Those that complain either can't afford HK or don't understand Federal German laws that are harsh when dealing with what they call "weapons of war". HK has tried to sell and make sporting variants of their guns availble to the public. Remember they are sometimes handcuffed when trying to meet Federal German law and BATF regs. Therefore not everyone is happy with the end product.

Slowly we are starting to see SF groups start to use the 416. Some NATO countries who use Colt Canada guns are now switching their SF units to 416's. There may not be much difference to the average weekend sport shooter but for those who are going into "harms way" they want the best.

PS, Anyone who has stripped the new FN SCAR knows that it is stolen HK G36 technology!
