I wanted to search the forum about the SA XD but no luck can't search words under three letters... While taste in firearms is very very subjective... for once, I'm looking at a gun I haven't seen anyone praise for its looks.

Any XD owner around here? What is it that makes this gun sell? From my point of view it's only a american named, 1911 style gripsafety, Glock

Made in Croatia.... Fixed in Croatia... Lifetime warranty, but you cant find many parts for it as they want to fix everything through SA..

Made in America or Croatia? The M&P's in .45acp can be had with the external thumb safety and I understand the 9MM and ,40cal will soon be avaiable with that option. Not sure why but then I don't care for skinny women either.

Take Care

I bought mine on sale, it was a good price at the time. I had a Glock before and wanted to try something different. I find it accurate, pretty light and has a nice trigger.

The frame also felt more solid than my old Glock (with the Glock if I pinched the bottom of the mag well it would move, the XD is solid).

Standard sites are pretty good too. The firing pin sticks out the back and the extractor at the top pops up more, it is alot easier and faster to see the chamber is loaded.

It's a good gun and all. But I find it pretty much on par with all the popular 9MM polymers I have had, like Glock, M&P etc.

I don't know what makes them sell but I bought mine after "fondling" one at a shop. the price was good and I've been very happy with it (in 40 S&W). I've got about 3000 reloads through it with only a couple of FTF which were probably due to sloppy reloading on my part. It's more accurate than I am (which isn't saying much). Despite other opinions there are lots of upgrades and parts for it but most are available from businesses that don't want to deal with our "regulations". I'd love to get a new trigger group for it which is really my on'ly complaint with the firearm. I'm probably going to get one in 9mm if my plant doesn't close down. I was looking at the M&P 9mm as well untill Greentips posted his problems. TC

Mine was really accurate and felt better than the Glock. I usually dont like grip safety's but this one was good. There are considered as reliable as the Glock and even fire underwater !!! Great for fishing ;)

for what my opinion is worth(not alot to some more to others...u know who u r lol)the xd is an all round winner if u r a looking for a git er done pistol.I have an xd 40 i bought a couple years back i took my ipsc course with one 4 years ago and loved it for its simplicity and the way it points.when i bring my xd up to shoot the sights seem to naturally line up on the target for me faster than with a glock.the pistol is sooo easy to disassemble compared to say a 1911 pistol and has few parts to lose when cleaning not that u would at home but say in the field should the need arise.i have shot alot and cleaned a little and have had zero ftf's or any mechanical failures.on the looks side i think the xd is butt ugly next to a 1911 but if ease of operation and simplicity is what u want the xd is definitely that.the finish is not very durable and shows holster wear fairly fast but again this is a pistol to shoot not to win any beauty pagents.i wouldnt swap mine for any other pistol i love my xd!

I like mine in .40, but as said above it is a bit snappy. I bought it used with an unknown round count as my first handgun, and have had zero issues in ~2000+ rounds, aside from the guy before me who rather than learning to shoot well decided to take a file and butcher the rear sight...so mine has new night sights.

Did my BB course with it, and shot my first match as well.

However, if I was doing it all over again, I'd go Glock or M&P, and probably in 9mm, as it's easier on the wallet to shoot. Glock is next for me.

Ya, it was the next big thing for about 6 months. Then it was dumped from Production Division and SA started acting like dicks when frame inserts failed.

My brother in law paid for one, and shot it once.

My wife tried all the pistols that we could get our hands on, and finally discovered that the xd in 9mm was one of the few that fit her wee hands. She doesn't abuse it, and probably only has a few hundred (~1000) rounds through it, but it has been flawless so far.

From my perspective, it is still far too small a grip for my gynecologist wanna-be digits, but in comparison to the other tupperware giant, it feels much more like a real firearm, has a far superior trigger, and is super accurate.

I have considered one in .45, but I kinda like being married...

I own a Springfield Armory XD 9 and shoot it regularly. I have probably put about 1500 rounds throught it and haven't had any problems. If your are in the lowermainland I am going to poco range on the 20th if you want to try it before you buy one.

Was your point in starting this thread to actually get opinions on the XD or just to make comments about its appearance? Do some research on the pistol. You'll find that it is an exceptionally reliable gun, with many features that make it an excellent choice. You're right though, you wouldn't want an ugly gun. What would your girlfriend think?

I'm in no mean being a tard, unless you incist, and neither trying to make fun of people who buy that gun, I'm just asking what's so special about it. If I shocked you I'm truly sorry, it wasn't my intention.
