i just got a nice marlin safety in .32 (i only have the rimfire firing pin for it), it looks like a 1892 (92) model, and has the patents on the barrel like others saying nov 19. 1878, april 2. 1889, aug 12, 1890, and march 1. 1892. and Marlin Safety on top of the reciver. however it does not have the Marlin 92 stamped on the top reciever tang. also it does not have a magazine cut off on it like the others on google. it does have a 102### serial number so could it just be a late model when they started making them diferent, or is it something else than i think?

Reading through Brophy on the Marlin '92 (because I like old Marlins) and the magazine cutoff was apparently introduced around 1898/1899; so it was not used for all the 1892s.

An earlier date is consistent with still having "Marlin Safety" stamped on the receiver, which was apparently eliminated around 1903; - if it is stamped "Model 1892" as opposed to "Model 92" (I'm not clear from your post) then that also points to an earlier date (Model 1892 was in use until around 1905).

Finally, your serial number also places this as an earlier manufacture (around 1894); remember that Marlin used the same serial sequencing across multiple models.

I really like those Marlin 1892's especially the .32 chambering - enjoy 'er.

just got back from the range, she is alot of fun! it needs a new magazine spring and a little tuning with the shell carrier, but other that that it seems to be good. i hit a water jug at about 40 yards a few times using standard Dominion .32 long rimfire ammo

Hey right on! Glad to hear it!

The lack of a tang stamp is interesting - I see no reference to variants with no tang stamp, in Brophy's book. Edit - I do see some discussion on this topic, on the Marlin Collector forum. Be worth asking there, if nobody chimes in?

This could be an 1891, which were not always marked on the tang.

m-134,

CF firing pins for Marlin 92's are available (new made) from Wisner's in the U.S. for $25. I have bought from them a couple of times (including firing pins) and had them shipped to Canada no problem. Not cheap but available. Look under RIFLES/MARLIN/LEVER ACTION/RIMFIRE
http://www.wisnersinc.com/web_layout/rifles/marlin/rflever.htm

40-82

I just noticed on the Wisner web site that the very earliest model '92's used the model 91 firing pins. Since the true identity of your model '92 (no model designation on the upper tang) is in question, perhaps this is what you have. See info. here: http://www.wisnersinc.com/additional_info/marlin_LARF_rifles.htm

i done a bit more research and it mght have been either a parts/project gun, or maybe a transition gun from going from models 91-92. if so maybe thats why it doesnt have a model number since it may have been made using parts from both. in the website posted above, the bottom of the bolt looks like the model 1891 sideloader, also the part number that they list for the firing block matches the number stamped on mine, wich is # 7. only problem is they say on their site that as of 2008 they no longer do international orders, including to Canada. i think i may look on here and else where in canada for a center fire firing pin, or try making one myself at work. it looks verry simple to make.
