What is overbored barrel exactly

Barrel is just bored a little larger, they advertise lower pressure, less kick and better patterns. In the past some were overbored enough that they were 11 ga., doesn't do any harm but I think it's benefits may not be as stated. It works on the theory that the shotcup/shot is not tight going down the bore as on a reg. 12 Ga. barrel.

Some are even up to 10 bore. Mossberg 935 are stated as such. Somebody named Baker did a lot of work on this 20 years ago? and found all sorts of wonderful things happened. Higher velocity, less kick, tighter patterns.
